JOB DESCRIPTION:RECREATION MONITOR – FRONT DESKJOB TITLE:DEPARTMENT:PAY GRADE:EXEMPT:FULL-TIME:Recreation Monitor – Front DeskPublic Services-Recreation Division26 - Part-TimeNNDate Created: 10/1/2010Last Updated: 10/19/2010JOB SUMMARY:Under the direction <strong>of</strong> the Recreation Programmer, assists with the <strong>front</strong> <strong>desk</strong> area, instructionalclasses, <strong>front</strong> <strong>desk</strong> duties, special events and programs.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Perform as a responsible steward <strong>of</strong> the public trust and strive for excellence in publicservice, enhancing the quality <strong>of</strong> life for all. Act in a civil, respectful manner at all times to management, co-workers and others. Communicate effectively and courteously with patrons and staff about all areas. Ability to quickly build trust and rapport with patrons. Present a neat and pr<strong>of</strong>essional appearance and demeanor at all times when representing the<strong>City</strong>. Assist with planning and implementation <strong>of</strong> <strong>recreation</strong> activities, special events and rentals. Monitor building and enforce <strong>City</strong> and Department policy, ordinance, rules and procedures. Register patrons for activities, book reservations, collect appropriate fees and process POStransactions. Ability to maintain accurate customer records. Provide check-in/check-out <strong>of</strong> equipment. Accurate completion <strong>of</strong> required paperwork and documentation. Request supplies. Ensure the safety <strong>of</strong> all participants, checking for proper equipment usage and appropriateattire. Keep equipment safe, orderly and in sanitary condition. Report needed repairs and maintain equipment to assure efficient operation. Administer CPR and First Aid, if needed. Drive <strong>City</strong> vehicles, including busses, for <strong>recreation</strong> activities. Perform janitorial and other physical duties as required. Must be able to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, evenings and weekends. Other duties as may be assigned. Maintain <strong>front</strong> <strong>desk</strong> organization. Resolve patron questions and concerns promptly and follow up.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:Highly organized and efficient multi-tasker. Previous experience preferred. Flexible andindependent worker with high-energy, self-motivation, enthusiasm and service-oriented spirit.Willingness to assist all patrons and exhibit patience and caring for all abilities. Must be 18 years <strong>of</strong> ageor older. Ability to effectively interact with all levels <strong>of</strong> co-workers, management staff and the public.Stays up to date on trends. Ability to work overtime or perform stand-by duties as needed. Ability to useall <strong>of</strong>fice machines such as personal computer (basic s<strong>of</strong>tware MS Word/Excel), calculator, phone andphotocopier. Ability to maintain an acceptable attendance history. Ability to pass a pre-employmentdrug screening test, physical and criminal background check.REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Texas driver’s license.
