LION DANCE COMPETITIONOpen Lion DanceCompetition<strong>IOI</strong> Mall 2012USHERING THE DRAGON YEARIn conjunction with the Chinese New Yearcelebrations, <strong>IOI</strong> Mall <strong>Bandar</strong> <strong>Putra</strong>,<strong>Kulai</strong>jaya organized their annual <strong>IOI</strong> MallOpen Lion Dance Competition on the 15thof January, 2012. The co-organisers forthis event were Persekutuan Wushu, Johorand Persatuan Wushu, Naga Dan SingaLong Yi <strong>Kulai</strong>, Johor.The 12 troupes comprised of 5 Malaysian Troupes, 4Singaporean Troupes and 1 Taiwanese Troupecompeted for cash prizes worth RM3,000.00 alongwith trophies and medals.In the competition, each troupe was given 8 to 10 minutesto do the performance, accompanied by percussion setand judged by professional judges. All shoppers andguests were also entertained by Professional Wushu andDragon Dance performances.1 st PlaceThe objectives of this event were to promote the liondance as a healthy cultural and sport and to display theuniqueness of Chinese cultural activities to the public .Participants get to exchange ideas and thus, upgradetheir skills in the performing arts. <strong>IOI</strong> BODY BUILDER & NEW TALENT COMPETITIONNEW TALENTS FLEX THEIR MUSCLESOn 26th February 2012, <strong>IOI</strong> Mall <strong>Bandar</strong> <strong>Putra</strong> <strong>Kulai</strong> organized the Junior & New Talent Body BuilderCompetition 2012 . The co-organizers for this event were Persatuan Bina Badan,San Suria & Healthy Path Sdn Bhd . The event was held at the Centre Atrium,Ground Floor of <strong>IOI</strong> Mall ,<strong>Bandar</strong> <strong>Putra</strong>.The Competition is divided into 2 categories –• Junior Body Builder Category for participants aged below21 years old• New Talent Category for new faces and those who hadtaken part in body-building contests but yet to win.Altogether, 16 gyms from various places in Johor took partin this event. They had sent their best talents to competefor the coveted titles. The 16 gyms were Mr Big Gym, BurlyGym, Star Gym, San Suria Gym, Ironville Gym, Sure FitGym, GP Gym, Meteor Gym, Bindu Gym, Hyper Gym, KBSLarkin Gym, Scientex Gym, Excel Gym, Touch Guy Gym, FitGym and Gym Pontian.The ‘Persatuan Bina Badan & Angkat Berat Johor’ hasspecially invited Encik Othman Yahya, who had held thetitle Mr Malaysia, Mr Asia and Mr Universe to performduring the interval session.
