It was one ofhree first-round gameslayed that day as Roff beatlencoe 12-5 <strong>and</strong> Rattannocked off Thomas 15-5. But,he fourth quarterfinal beweenSterling <strong>and</strong> Wrightity has been on hold as theright City has been battlinghe OSSAA in court over itsligibility.OSSAA staff membersuled the week of the stateournament that Wright Cityad exceeded the games limitlaced on teams <strong>and</strong> forcedthe Lumberjax to forfeit theirquarterfinal game.Wright City originally requestedan appeal before theOSSAA board, but that requestwas denied by OSSAAstaff.Wright City then receiveda temporary injunction from aMcCurtain County judge,halting the remainder of theClass A tournament after thefirst three quarterfinal gameswere played.The matter ultimately wentbefore the State SupremeCourt, which ruled May 31that proper procedures werenot followed in the course ofthe events <strong>and</strong> that WrightCity should first be allowedan appeal before the OSSAAboard before going further inthe court process.That appeal took place lastTuesday.The OSSA board heardfrom Wright City attorneys,baseball coach Kyle Butler <strong>and</strong>LarryAdamsPharmacist &owner sinceJuly 1998NancyMoyedaPharmacistMelissaHuntPharmacistSupt. David Hawkins amongothers.Ultimately, the board voted7-6 to allow Wright City backin the state tournament, but ata cost.Wright City was put onwarning by the OSSAA <strong>and</strong>Butler, who took the blamefor the scheduling oversight,was suspended from coachingfor the state tournament<strong>and</strong> for the first semester ofthe 2013-14 school year.Butler cannot coach ingames or practices.Still, that opened up thestate tournament for play afterbeing on hold for over amonth.
