Using paintedcabinets of varying heights anddepths, adding glass doors, andchoosing dark-stained Cherry forthe island gives this room a greatbase for its French Country theme.Note how the layered crownmouldings on the wall cabinetsand the corbels on the island addfurther detail.6Charleston inMaple and Cherry

The kitchens shown here and onthe next two pages share thesame door style and wood species, and very similar color schemes. The difference is in the finishenhancements chosen. Here, arich, dark glaze emphasizes thedetail of the door style and makesthe fluted filler panel on the hutchstand out. Meanwhile...40Houston in Maple

Houston in Maple...the cabinetry in this kitchen has not been given a finish enhancement.Note how the same fluted filler panel, now used on the sink cabinet, blends with the doors on either side. This is an excellent demonstrationof how Glazing and Highlighting can affect the look of a room.43
