Your hard workhas not gone unnoticed, and I appreciate yourdedication to the mission: to provide total forcemission ready Combat Airlifters and equipmentanywhere, anytime. I know each one of you works hardevery day in operations, maintenance or support roles, and Iam proud of your work on and off the flightline. In July, Wing leadership convened off-site to prioritizethe duties and requirements we are receiving, in an effort toprovide you a detailed road map for success. The leadershipteam identified nine areas to focus on over the next 18-months. All of these areas are important for the futuresuccess of our Wing and you. Our nine target areas are:Fit to FightHuman Resource ManagementIndividual Medical ReadinessInternal CommunicationMission ExecutionForce DevelopmentTravel and Military PayResource ManagementOperational Readiness TrainingFor these nine areas we will have specific commandersassigned to lead a focus team. The focus teams will developsuccess plans to improve or sustain each area. If you areasked to participate on one of these teams, take it seriously. We need you to be fully engaged in developing a road mapfor our future success. Here are some things I need every Combat Airlifter todo in order to obtain full operational capability in functions, facilities and personnel.• Get combat ready. Thisincludes passing the newFit-2-Fight test, ATSOtraining, ancillary training, getting your shots, checkupsand knowing your job!• Keep your life balanced.Let your employer andfamily know ahead oftime what your missionrequirements will beover the next year. Letthem know your FY 2011mandatory annual tour willbe Oct. 1-8, 2010 and Jan.30-Feb. 6, 2011.Col. Merle D. HartWing Commander• Get to know the Joint and Total Joint Force Team thatyou are and will be working with: Active duty Air Force andArmy. How can you work smarter together?• Talk to your leadership. Tell them what you need toaccomplish your mission. Each of you is important to the foundation we are layingat Pope and you should be proud. Sixty-six years ago, inSeptember 1944, the 440th Troop Carrier Group joinedwith many of the 18th Airborne Corps' finest to play a keyrole in Operation MARKET GARDEN.
