Page FourBAPTISM PREPARATION :If you are a new parent and this is your first child to be baptizedat St. Fabian, you are invited to participate in the on-linebaptism preparation class by e-mailing Celia St. Charles at:cstcharles@stfabian.org. I will send you a set of questions thatyou will be asked to answer and return to me, along with a baptismal informationsheet. After returning these documents to me, you will then be invited towatch a DVD on baptisms at St. Fabian. This DVD is shown the 3 rd Thursdayof each month at 7pm in the church. After watching the DVD you may then callthe parish office to schedule your child’s baptism. Our next date for watchingthe DVD is:Thursday, November 15thIf you have already had other children baptized at St. Fabian, you do not needto do the prep class. Simply fill out the “Baptism Info” form that can be foundon the web site under Baptism Prep and e-mail it to: cstcharles@stfabian.org.Then call Celia at 248-553-4610 to schedule your child’s baptism. We celebratebaptisms on the 4 th Sunday of every month, immediately following the12:30pm liturgy.Sunday, November 25th is the next scheduled date for baptisms.A.C.T. (Acting on Catholic Teachings)WAYS TO GET INVOLVED ANDMAKE A DIFFERENCEEvery month St. Fabian & St. Colman parishioners travelto both the Capuchin Soup Kitchen and to COTS to ministerto the needs of the disadvantaged by serving meals.COTS, the Coalition on Temporary Shelter, houses folks who have becomehomeless and helps them work their way into permanent housing.COTS assists these people with job training, schooling, and budgetingas a way to get them “back on their feet”. We play a small part inthis mission when we go to their main facility and serve dinner onceeach month. The November date for COTS is already filled. The lastdate for the rest of this calendar year is Saturday, December 8. Thepeople going to COTS meet in the church parking lot at 4:45PM, drivedowntown together, serve dinner from 6 until 7PM, and return about7:30.Most people are aware of the Capuchin Soup Kitchen and its missionto feed the hungry. We send a group of volunteers there monthly tohelp serve meals. Often we will serve upwards of three or four hundredpeople. There is only one Capuchin lunch date left for this year. It is eFriday, December 14. People going meet in the church parking lot at10AM, carpool to the Kitchen, serve lunch from 11AM until 1PM, andreturn by 1:45.Archdiocese CollectsFunds for HurricaneSandy VictimsThe Archdiocese of Detroit will becollecting funds to help aid people inthe eastern United States as theyendure and recover from HurricaneSandy. The Archdiocese announcedTuesday that it would accept donationsfor the cause through its website,www.aod.org, and via mail.Funds collected will be forwarded toBaltimore-based Catholic CharitiesU.S.A., the organization commissionedby the U.S. Conference ofCatholic Bishops to represent theCatholic community in times of domesticdisaster.In addition to money collected directlythrough the Archdiocese forthe storm relief efforts, the 267Catholic parishes situated in Wayne,Oakland, Macomb, Monroe, St. Clairand Lapeer counties may independentlydecide whether to take up specialcollections for disaster relief.Those funds, similarly, would be forwardedto Catholic Charities, U.S.A.Those interested in helping may visitwww.aod.org/disasterrelief, or donateby a check payable to“Archdiocese of Detroit” with“Hurricane Sandy” written in thememo line.
