Through GSGLA trainings,activities and leadership awards (including the <strong>Girl</strong> ScoutGold, Silver and Bronze Awards) girls build self-confidence,set goals and learn teambuilding and decision-making skills.ARTS & CULTURE<strong>Girl</strong> Scouting opens up the world to girls. It helps expandgirls’ exposure to, awareness <strong>of</strong> and appreciation for a variety<strong>of</strong> artistic expression and diverse cultural experiences.GSGLA is creating new ways to respond to the demandfor arts programs and is <strong>of</strong>fering exciting experiences thatencourage cultural understanding and appreciation.BUSINESS SMARTS<strong>Girl</strong> Scouting helps girls develop practical skills, includingmoney management skills that will empower them to makesmart decisions. Through GSGLA programs, girls learnhow to budget, save and invest. The <strong>Girl</strong> Scout CookieProgram and Fall Product Program encourage goalsetting,decision making, money management, peopleskills and business ethics. In <strong>2011</strong>, more than 1,000 girlsparticipated in Cookie University and were immersed insales and marketing workshops.PROGRAM AREASPG 8
