14 22 32Welcome to the second edition ofMAGAZINE – the newsletter ofICOMAM, the InternationalCommittee of Museums of Armsand Military History, published toinform members of its activitiesand publicize these to the widerworld.Since our first <strong>issue</strong> ICOMAMhas held its conference in Rio deJaneiro where we were in the verycapable hands of AdmiralArmando Bittencourt. He and hisstaff looked after us in superbstyle enabling us to see theirwonderful collections, meet ourSouth American colleagues andexperience Brazil’s legendaryhospitality. We have included ashort photo essay of theconference here.As in the first <strong>issue</strong> we have amixture of material from news andexhibitions to articles on objectsand displays. As we stated beforewe hope to provide a forum for thewider field of arms, armour andmilitary studies – to share ideasand experiences and spreadinformation about what workedand what did not.
