II. INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANTS FOR PREQUALIFICATION1. General Provisions1.1 PurposeThe purpose of this Prequalification is to prequalify C-7 Low Voltage SystemsContractor“Applicants” to apply for prequalification by the District for the Structured CablingSystems Contractors.LACCD has developed a standard for the installation, testing, certification anddocumentation of its low voltage structured cabling systems. As an integral part of theDistricts overall Communications Network, the standard is based on performance levelsmeeting Category 5E, 6 and 6A specifications. Recognizing the need to install highperformingcabling infrastructure also requires the need to establish a pool of qualifiedcontactors. This document defines the minimum requirements set forth to pre-qualify forbidding opportunities of the upcoming structured cabling system projects throughout theLACCD District.ObjectivesLACCD is looking to establish a pool of pre-qualified low-voltage contractors toparticipate in the bid process for a variety of building and infrastructure projects takingplace Districtwide. LACCD deploys a range of structured cabling systems from campusto campus and seeks manufacturer authorized installers qualified to install, test andprovide extended warranty for any of the pre-defined structured cabling systems.Respondents should review the requirements and service categories outlined in thisdocument and respond with documentation of their current qualification.The objective LACCD has set for this RFQ is to establish a professional relationship withthe selected contractors to provide services for the installation, testing, certification andextended warranty of the structured cabling systems deployed throughout the variouscollege campuses; to promote uniformity and consistency throughout the district; toconsolidate LACCD’s contractor resources; to reduce cost and add value by providingdetailed documentation to the existing IT Staff. LACCD, seeks well established, industrytrained, manufacturer certified, financially stable resources to provide these servicesacross the existing District campuses.
