The blowdown line isautomatically closed on shut-down of the boilerplant.Application in steam boilers, evaporators orsimilar plants, in particular plants operatedautomatically, e.g. in accordance with theregulations for operation without constantsupervision (TRD 604).DesignThe Reactomats BAE 36-211 and BAE 39 consistof a continuous blowdown valve and anelectric actuator.The GESTRA multi-stage nozzle or, in the caseof the BAE 39, the radial stage nozzle acting asregulating and closing unit of the continuousblowdown valves is controlled by the actuator.All BAE include a sample valve for checking theboiler-water concentration. The BAE 36 has aself-tightening stuffing box.The actuator is mounted to the blowdownvalves BAE 36-211 with an angle bracket, in thecase of the BAE 39 directly onto the valve yoke.A reversible synchronous motor is used as drivingelement for the BAE 36-211 (for the BAE 39a three-phase motor) which, via a gear adjuststhe position of the regulating lever of the BAE36-211 or the valve spindle of the BAE 39. Tooperate the regulating lever by hand, the actuatorcan be disengaged.OperationThe boiler water is monitored by the electrodeand the continuous blowdown controller.lf the conductivity limit adjusted on the continuousblowdown controller is exceeded (e.g.increase in boiler-water density as a result oflarge steam consumption) the continuousblowdown valve type BAE is moved by thecontroller to the HIGH position (OPEN). lf thedensity is reduced again the valve is movedback to the LOW (operating) position ensuringcontinuous economic blowdown. On shut-downof the boiler the valve is automatically closed(position CLOSED).The combination of continuous blowdownvalve type BAE 36-1, conductivity electrodetype LRG 16-5 and continuous blowdowncontroller type LRR 1-9 ensures automaticcontrol of the continuous blowdown process(three-position stepping control).The actuator of the continuous blowdownvalves is triggered by the continuous bIowdownconroller. It is put into operation by a singlepolechange-over switch or two interlockingcontactors, one for each direction of rotation.The switching off is effected by the correspondingposition-controlled limit switchesprovided in the actuator (HIGH and CLOSED).The necessary driving power is supplied by themotor via a gear with a large transmission,requiring no maintenance.In the case of the BAE 36-211, the power ofthe motor is transmitted from the gear to theregulating lever of the valve by a coupling ora fork encompassing the lever.
