The Open Agency’s “outstanding design” wins Goldat the Tourist Industry Oscars.The Open Agency’s design for has won theGold Award for The Best Tourist Website, 2004.Visit Britain, formerly the British Tourist Authority, announced thewinning design for British Airways London Eye’s website at thetourism ‘Oscars’, The Excellence in England Tourism Awards 2004,held at Kensington Palace in London on 22 April.Visit Britain called the site “impressive” and “shows great innovation”. They also recognized its “outstandingdesign and innovative technology with an insistence on getting the important basics right”.The finalists nominated by all nine regional tourist boards were measured for:• strong and proven commitment to provide an excellent service through the website• attractive design and easy to navigate web pages• measures in place for disabled site visitors, in line with the new Disability Discrimination Act (DDA)• fit with client target market• tangible success with promotion and increased salesRob Hall, New Media Director at The Open Agency, called it “ a fantastic achievement for everyone involved.British Airways London Eye are a very encouraging client and the site is something we are all tremendouslyproud of”.There are now over a quarter of a million impressions a month on the site, a 40% increase over the sameperiod last year.“The Open Agency have designed a stylish and usable site incorporating a lot of content and functionality withthe minimum of fuss.
