INVESTIGATIONSThe Criminal Investigation Division of theSheriff’s Office serves to support and augment the RoadPatrol Division in meeting the Department’s Mission.Vice and related cases consist of murder, burglary, larceny,robbery, possession of weapon, assault, escape, parole checks,warrant arrests, camera installs, computer crimes, drugidentification, underage drinking, vehicle and traffic arrests, andpossession of stolen property.The functions ofthe CriminalInvestigationDivisioninclude:2011 ACTIVITYFelony Investigations 476MisdemeanorInvestigations 111Non-criminalInvestigations 207TotalInvestigations: 794Pistol Permit/Investigation RecordChecks: 195• investigate criminal and non-criminal incidents• legally obtain information and evidence to identify the person(s)responsible for the incident• arrest offenders• recover stolen property• county-wide drug enforcement• present the best possible case for prosecutionCriminal investigation requires specialized training, skills, and techniquesthat are not normally available to the Road Patrol Division.
