AccommodationsStudent accommodations for the program dates willbe provided <strong>in</strong> furnished apartments <strong>in</strong> <strong>Florence</strong>.Each apartment will have two to four bedrooms, twostudents per room and no more than eight studentsper apartment. Apartments will <strong>in</strong>clude kitchens withcook<strong>in</strong>g equipment, plates, glasses and utensils. L<strong>in</strong>enswill also be provided, although students shouldbr<strong>in</strong>g their own towels. The FacultyDenise Danford is an Associate Professor of CommunicationStudies at <strong>Delaware</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong>. Sheearned her master’s degree <strong>in</strong> Speech Communicationat Southern Ill<strong>in</strong>ois University. Professor Danford’s thesisresearch focused on <strong>in</strong>tercultural communication,specifically the ways <strong>in</strong> which non-dom<strong>in</strong>ant groupmembers negotiate identity when <strong>in</strong>teract<strong>in</strong>g withculturally dom<strong>in</strong>ant group members. In addition toteach<strong>in</strong>g communication courses at the college level,Professor Danford also facilitates <strong>in</strong>tercultural tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>gsfor bus<strong>in</strong>esses, nonprofit organizations, and educational<strong>in</strong>stitutions. She has visited <strong>Florence</strong> on other occasions.Because of the diversity of <strong>in</strong>ternational visitors to the<strong>Florence</strong>, and the Italian people’s tendency towardnonverbal expressiveness, Professor Danford believes<strong>Florence</strong> is the perfect dest<strong>in</strong>ation for students <strong>in</strong>terested<strong>in</strong> study<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>tercultural communication.Dolores Formichella is a full-time Professor of Englishand Humanities <strong>in</strong> the Communications, Arts andHumanities Division, and has earned two Masters ofArts degrees from Villanova University—<strong>in</strong> English and<strong>in</strong> Liberal Studies. Professor Danford’sthesis research focused on <strong>in</strong>tercultural communication, specifically the ways<strong>in</strong> which non-dom<strong>in</strong>ant group members negotiate identity when <strong>in</strong>teract<strong>in</strong>gwith culturally dom<strong>in</strong>ant group members. In addition to teach<strong>in</strong>g communicationcourses at the college level, Professor Danford also facilitates <strong>in</strong>terculturaltra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>gs for bus<strong>in</strong>esses, nonprofit organizations, and educational <strong>in</strong>stitutions.She has visited <strong>Florence</strong> on several other occasions. Because of the diversity of<strong>in</strong>ternational visitors to the <strong>Florence</strong>, and the Italian people’s tendency towardnonverbal expressiveness, Professor Danford believes <strong>Florence</strong> is the perfectdest<strong>in</strong>ation for students <strong>in</strong>terested <strong>in</strong> study<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>tercultural communication.Dolores Formichella is a full-time Professor of English and Humanities <strong>in</strong> theCommunications Arts and Humanities Division, and has earned two Master of Artsdegrees from Villanova University-<strong>in</strong> English and <strong>in</strong> Liberal Studies. In addition towrit<strong>in</strong>g and literature classes, she teaches humanities courses that explore thediverse artistic, social, political, and economic history of world cultures from prehistoryto the 21st Century. Her love of Italy is <strong>in</strong>herited from her grandparentswho were born there, from her travels abroad, and from her family who live <strong>in</strong><strong>Florence</strong>, Caserta, and Naples.
