Honors Graduatesto be RecognizedStudents who have earned academic honors will berecognized in the <strong>Commencement</strong> Program. Thoserecognized in the program will have achieved one ormore of the following distinctions.Summa Cum LaudeThe Summa Cum Laude award is granted to the studentwho has achieved the highest grade point average andhas taken all courses at <strong>East</strong> <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong> <strong>College</strong>.The accomplishment of this person is recognized by adesignation of honor on the Associate in Arts degree.Magna Cum LaudeThe Magna Cum Laude award is granted to the studentwho has achieved the second highest grade point averageand has taken all courses at <strong>East</strong> <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong> <strong>College</strong>.The accomplishment of this person is recognized by adesignation of honor on the Associate in Arts degree.Cum LaudeThe Cum Laude award is granted to those students whohave completed a minimum of 24 units of course work andwho have mainted a 3.5 grade point average or higher in allcollege work attempted at <strong>East</strong> <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong> <strong>College</strong> and allother colleges. Students graduationg Cum Laude are recognizedwith distinction on their Associate in Arts degree.Academic recognition for commencement purposesis based on cumulative grades for all college work completedthrough the Fall 2012 semester.Participant Information!Mandatory Rehearsal, 12:00 noonThere is a mandatory rehearsal that is required for allgraduates. The rehearsal will begin at 12 noon on Tuesday,June 4, north side of the G-8 building.Eligible ParticipantsStudents who have filed a petition with the Admissionsand Records Office for the terms:Summer 2012, Fall 2012, and Spring 2013Arrival Information – 5:00 p.m.Graduates: Every graduate will need to pick up a name cardprior to the graduation ceremony. Distribution of name cardswill begin at 5:00 p.m. on the north side of the G8 building.Guest Admission: Gates to Weingart Stadium will open at5:00 PM. Family and guests are encouraged to arrive early.Admission is free and there is no limit to how many people youcan bring. Students can buy the package for $39.50(plus tax), or the items can be bought separately.
