A workforce of 430 French and German employees ensures<br />
the smooth operation of ARTE GEIE, which also relies on the<br />
efforts of freelance and independent journalists and occasional<br />
performers, as well as various contractors for miscellaneous<br />
services. The average staff age is forty-two, with around nine<br />
years of service. In an enterprise with dual nationality like ARTE,<br />
the need to establish a common corporate culture and identity<br />
that all staff can identify with is a major challenge faced daily,<br />
in all of its activities. Good communication between, and<br />
co-ordination of, the channel’s three operational centres are<br />
critical elements in this process. An internal forum and a staff<br />
exchange programme enable everyone involved to experience<br />
the varied skills and know-how that go into making the channel<br />
successful while also providing a space for inter-personnel<br />
dialogue within the company.
