AP BiologyMr. Scott BrownCourse Description:AP Biology is a course designed to be an introductorycollege biology course. The course content is arrangedaround 4 "Big Ideas" and inquiry based laboratoryexperiences. The course was revised in 2012 to focus onscience practice and depth. The College Board materialsstates: "The revised AP® Biology course addresses thischallenge by shifting from a traditional “content coverage”model of instruction to one that focuses on enduring, conceptual understandings and the content that supportsthem. This approach will enable students to spend less timeon factual recall and more time on inquiry-based learning ofessential concepts, and will help them develop the reasoningskills necessary to engage in the science practices usedthroughout their study of AP Biology."
