• Victimization and Bullying Among
School-Aged Children
Coordinator: Michelle E. Schmidt, Ph.D.,
Associate Professor and Chair of
Psychology, Director of Academic
Leadership Programs
What is the nature of peer and friend
interactions at school? Why do kids bully
each other? Why do they let themselves
be bullied? These questions will be
explored along with suggestions on what
children, parents, and teachers can do
to deal with the problem. Data from a
public school district and an independent
school will be used to show what bullying
looks like in different school environments.
Media responses to bullying trends will also
be discussed. And, be forewarned, we will
dive into the topic but not have nearly
enough time to cover everything!
• Meaningful Participation in the World
Coordinators: Katie Dantsin, Director of
Center for Leadership and Service & Amy
Saul, Director of Career Development
Explore hands-on learning opportunities
offered to students through the Career
Center and Center for Leadership and
Service. Internships, volunteer service,
job shadowing, leadership programs,
and mentor programs prepare students
for meaningful participation in the world.
Presenters will discuss programs and
activities such as e-Portfolio, Backpack
to Briefcase, On Campus Recruiting,
Liaison Program, Career Connections,
LeaderShape, Community Fellows,
Emerging Leaders, The 1742 Experience,
United Student Government (USG), as well
as club and organizational leadership.
• The Study Abroad Experience
Coordinator: Kerry Sethi,
Director of International Studies
Moravian College students are strongly
encouraged to add a study-abroad
experience to their liberal arts education.
All majors can study abroad and earn
credit towards their Moravian degree
programs. Come and learn about
opportunities for your student to spend
a May term, summer, semester, or year in
programs available throughout the world.
Support your student by helping to plan
now for the academic and personal
experience of a lifetime.
