Equipment & Systems EngineeringCATIA - Electrical LibraryCreate and manage catalogs containing electrical components, andassist their placement according to electrical specifications.Product overviewCATIA - Electrical Library 2 (ELB) allows usersto create and manage catalogs containingelectrical components. This product extendsmechanical parts and assemblies withelectrical behaviors to define electricalcomponents, such as connectors andequipments. These devices can be stored incatalogs in the same way as mechanicalparts/assemblies. This includes electricalproperties and attributes. When thecomponents are placed from the catalog inthe 3D digital mock-up, it takes into accountall pre-defined mechanical constraints, thisallowing a correct use/placement of thedevices. Typically this product will be usedtogether with CATIA - Electrical HarnessInstallation 2 (EHI) to provide the electricaldesigner a comprehensive 3D bundledefinition.Product HighlightsCreate and manage an extended rangeof electrical components, harness supportsand protectionsDefinition of mechanical constraints, according to the assembly of electricalcomponentsAutomatic and associative placement ofelectrical components in the 3D digitalmock-up from schematic externalapplicationSupports customization of electricalcatalogs to create these according tocompany standardsProduct Key Customers BenefitsExtended range of electrical devices...Users can manage the following devices:Electrical Equipment assemblies, ElectricalConnector Shell assemblies, ElectricalConnector, and Connector back shell.Definition of electrical devices includesfeatures, in addition to electrical attributes.Integration of mechanical and electricalspecifications... CATIA Electrical Libraryallows users to predefine how electricaldevices will be assembled when they areconnected, such as predefining mattingconnector assemblies. It is possible todefine a connection point to link a bundlesegment, another connector, a contact, afiller plug, a bundle segment, a cavity, or aConnector back shell.Direct and associative placement ofelectrical devices from the catalog into themock-up... all pre-defined mechanical constraints. Smartdrag-and-drop features for placement fromcatalog.Generation of electrical wire references inthe catalog... Using a batch program, userscan generate a catalog with all wire referencesfrom a CSV file.Definition of harness supports... To facilitate3D harness installation, users can specify inthe catalog how the support part will constrainthe harness.Placement of electrical component drivenby functional specifications... Users canselect a functional device imported from EFDfor placement in the 3D mock-up. The list ofphysical devices available in the catalog isfiltered according to the pre-selected function.Automatic placement of all connectors ofequipment is made using functionaldefinitions.Automatic placement of electricalcomponents in the 3D DMU from a 2Dexternal application... This new capabilityoptimizes the design process by providing theability to propagate and streamline data fromthe functional diagram to the 3D detaileddesign. Additionally, it integrates the twodesign stages and ensures that the designintent is captured at the detail design phase.Users can easily maintain consistencybetween 2D logical schematic information and3D representations. To manage integritybetween external 2D electrical specificationsand 3D design, the system is able to track anyinconsistency of Part Number and proposesautomatic reconciliationwill be used for the recommendation ofphysical devices. For example, a list ofphysical devices can be defined that arecompatible with battery function. This ensuresthe compliance of device placement with thefunctional design intent.Editing electrical properties andProperties of electrical objects can be editedusing the CATIA V5 properties command.Default wire properties are: Diameter, Section,Length, Color, Bend radius and Catalog.Other properties can be added with thestandard product structure.Customization of electrical catalogs...Electrical catalogs are flexible to allow eachuser to define their own catalog structure. Thisflexibility is provided through a user--definedmap correlating electrical object types (wire)with catalog chapters.Link physical and functional referencesthrough V5 electrical catalog... With CATIA- Electrical System Functional Definition 2(EFD), you can define which reference isassociated with a functional device.Analysis of electrical links between objectsAutomatic placement of contact/filler plugdevices according to the wires connectedto its cavities... Smart Drag and Dropavailable for placement of a contact on theconnector. Users can place all contacts whereneeded.Navigation within electrical catalogs...Management of compatibility rulesbetween electrical devices...
