Spring Sports Season ReviewTRACK & FIELDThe <strong>Westminster</strong> <strong>College</strong> women’strack and field team repeated asPresidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC)Champions and the fifth-place <strong>Titan</strong>men increased their point total at thePAC meet from 22 to 47 points comparedto last year.Under second-year head coachTim McNeil, <strong>Westminster</strong> won eightevents at the PAC Championships,including seven by the <strong>Titan</strong> womenand one for the men. Overall, therewere 14 new school records establishedin the 2009 season (6 women’soutdoor, 7 women’s indoor, and 1men’s outdoor).Senior sprinter Megan Harding(Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills)won the 100- (12.37) and 200-meter(25.79) and anchored the 4x100 relayteam (48.33) that set a new PACrecord.Senior Katelyn Kushner (Pittsburgh,Pa./Brentwood) was <strong>Westminster</strong>’sother multiple PAC championas she captured the 100- (15.58)and 400-meter (1:04.96) hurdles,the latter for a fourth straight year.The one PAC men’s champion wasfreshman Caleb Smathers (Punxsutawney,Pa./Punxsutawney) inthe pole vault at 4.18 meters.The <strong>Titan</strong> women’s track & field team celebrates its second straight PAC championshipBASEBALLThe <strong>Titan</strong> baseball team posteda 15-25 an overall record and placedsixth in the PAC with a mark of 6-12under 10th-year head coach CarmenNocera. <strong>Westminster</strong> placed threeplayers on the all-PAC teams, includingsenior first baseball John Izzo(New Castle, Pa./Union) on thefirst team and junior outfielder DaveEvans (Beaver Falls, Pa./Riverside)and freshman pitcher JustinPrejsnar (New Castle, Pa./NewCastle) on the second team.Izzo, <strong>Westminster</strong>’s career leaderin six statistical categories includinghits (185), home runs (26) and RBI(124), batted a personal-best .415(56-135) in 2009. Evans led the teamand ranked second in the PAC with a.444 (59-133) batting average. Prejsnar(5-2) allowed the PAC’s sixthlowestopponent batting average at.252 in 11 appearances, 8 starts and4 complete games.4John IzzoSOFTBALLThe <strong>Westminster</strong> softball teamposted its 16th straight season withat least 17 wins. Coached by JanReddinger in her 13th season, the<strong>Titan</strong>s went 17-21-1 and qualified forthe PAC Tournament with a mark of8-6. The fourth-place <strong>Titan</strong>s went 1-2in the league tournament and placedfour players on all-PAC teams.Junior outfielder Addie Parker(Guys Mills, Pa./Maplewood) andjunior utility player Jennifer Emery(New Castle, Pa./Laurel) werenamed first team all-PAC.
