Net profit for the financial year was PLN 33,4 million versus PLN 47,8 million in 2003. This lowerresult in 2004 is mainly due to less profitable trading activity on Treasury papers and derivativeinstruments which, unlike in the past exercises, did not contribute significantly to the overallpositive result of the bank. The year 2004 was the fourth consecutive year in which the operatingexpenses of the Bank have decreased.In the light of the natural turnover and promotions within the BNP Paribas Group in Poland andabroad, the Bank carries on recruitment of highly qualified and experienced staff. Bank staff isyoung - over 70% of staff is below 35 years and almost 60% are women. BNP Paribas Bank Polskacontinues to heavily invest in professional training. It organizes tailor made training programs inPoland and in BNP Paribas centers located in Paris and London. Integration of employees rangedfrom various ”get together” events to employee’s shareholding incentive programs.BNP Paribas Bank Polska continues to foster cooperation with the BNP Paribas Group in Poland:Arval PHH (car fleet management), Cetelem (consumer finance), Cardif (life & credit insurance)and BNP Paribas Lease. In total the Group employs over 500 employees in Poland.BNP Paribas is well known for its long lasting sponsorship of tennis events such as Roland Garrosand Davis Cup.
