GAMES OF COOPERATIONCooperation—helping, sharing and reciprocity—is a pro-social behaviour that allowsus to live with our needs and the needs of others, yet requires the ability to realize theneeds of others (empathy), to set aside your own interests (generosity) and take action(initiative) creatively according to the needs expressed by others.These games are useful to understand collaboration and to get used to exchanging,sharing and constructing synergies with others. Such skills are the base for friendship.In games of cooperation there are no winners or losers. Instead, every participant’sskills and characteristics are needed in order to reach the goal of the game. Suchgames allow for the inclusion of those children who during competition games couldbe excluded (like handicapped children).At the end of each game we can ask one or more of these questions, to allow the participantsto gain awareness about the reason of the game and the trainer to receivefeed-back from the group:Why have we played this game?How do you feel at the end of the game?What have you thought during the game?Which is the thing you’ve liked most?What did you find easy?What did you find difficult?Do you think you will ever use this game again in your life?When and how?24
