Here, the velocity isslowed and the flow is directed into the quiescentzone above the CPI pack(s). Gross, free oil dropletsrise, and the flow containing residual small freedroplets and solids particles enters the CPI in alaminar flow condition. The CPI pack is uniquely designed to increase theseparation surface area by using a series ofparallel plates, arranged to allow small, free oildroplets to coalesce and separate from the carrierfluid. Separation is based on the differences in thespecific gravities of the fluids and the liquidtemperature.Separated oil rises to the peaks of thecorrugations in the parallel plates, then movesupward along these peaks to the top of the pack.As the separated oil is diverted to the top of theseparator, it is protected from the flow enteringthe CPI by a gutter. At the top of the unit, the separated oil forms alayer and is skimmed by an adjustable trough orweir. The clean effluent flows upward through theclear effluent compartment, then over theadjustable effluent weir and out of the separation unit.Prefabricated CPI platerack, designed for easyremoval as an assembly.Separated solids in the CPI pack flow down thevalleys of the corrugations to the bottom of the CPIpack. Another gutter shields them from the flowleaving the plate pack compartment. The use of adown-flow pack configuration ensures the entirewater phase passes through the plate pack.Because the pack is positioned at a 45º incline, separation is enhanced and the risk of plugging themedia is minimized.Test units are available for on-site use.The information provided in this literature contains merely general descriptions orcharacteristics of performance which in actual case of use do not always apply asdescribed or which may change as a result of further development of the products.
