TCP/IPConnecting the WorldWeb-based system to help diagnose and resolveproblems in a z/OS TCP/IP networkPerformance Problem Determination Assistance (PPDA)To help you to diagnose and resolveproblems, we have gathered case studiesfrom systems programmers and provideda structured set of diagnostic knowledge. The PPDA (Performance ProblemDetermination Assistance) feature willguide you through resolving performanceproblems which often happen on TCP/IPnetworks.Listener Performance ProfileThe LPP (Listener Performance Profile)describes the parameters whichshould be measured for listener ports(socket applications). This functionwill activate intensive modediagnostics and is for use whenperformance problems aresuspected. LPP reports on workload, service time, errors, capacity, andqueues.Access z/OS Private SNMP MIBWith the introduction of the z/OS systems, a new data source, the SNMP private MIB for z/OS,now contains hundreds of new variables to allow visibility into system and stack operation.Inside the Stack exploits MIB variables from z/OS private SNMP MIB as well as the rich datasource found in the SNMP public MIBs (IP, UDP, TCP, and ICMP).12565 Research Parkway, Suite 300Orlando, Florida 32826(407) 275-0220 / 1-866-GO-4-ESAIinfo@esaigroup.comwww.esaigroup.comDevelopment Center30 Los HelechosCarmel Valley, CA 93924

TCP/IPTCP/IPConnecting the the WorldWorldHistorical Trends for z/OS TCP/IPHistorical graphs and reports are available for anyz/OS MIB variable as well as any found in the publicMIBs (IP, UDP, TCP, and ICMP). You may wish to viewthe Performance Problem Diagnostic Assistance(PPDA) to see how these new MIB variables can helpyou solve problems. Historical trends allow you tobaseline traffic or errors for z/OS TCP/IP. You maywish to trend Enterprise Extender usage, OSA Expressusage or any one of the hundreds of variablesavailable.Alerts for z/OS TCP/IP ProblemsYou may choose to set alerts for any z/OS MIBvariable as well as any found in the public MIBs (IP,UDP, TCP, and ICMP). Alerts may be viewed by host,by network (group of hosts) or for all monitoredhosts. You may wish to view the PerformanceProblem Diagnostic Assistance (PPDA) forsuggestions on what alerts may be useful to set.Automatic Assessment of Trouble SpotsThe SNMP MIBs are a rich source ofdata -- but there are hundreds ofMIB variables. One way to simplifythe process of finding problems on aparticular host is the Trouble Spotsselection. The Trouble Spots reportwill automatically examine thosehundreds of variables and displayonly the errors. The z/OS and publicMIBs are examined for errors in theTCP, UDP, IP, interfaces, OSAEthernet and ICMP variables.Historical as well as currentinformation will be presented.12565 Research Parkway, Suite 300Orlando, Florida 32826(407) 275-0220 / 1-866-GO-4-ESAIinfo@esaigroup.comwww.esaigroup.comDevelopment Center30 Los HelechosCarmel Valley, CA 93924
