4. Firestop System - The firestop system shall consist of the following:A. Fill, Void or Cavity Material* - Wrap Strip - Nom 1/8 in. (3.2 mm) or 3/16 in. (4.8 mm) thick intumescent material faced onboth sides with a plastic film, supplied in 2 in. (51 mm) wide strips. Layers of wrap strips are individually wrapped aroundthe through penetrant with the ends butted and held in place with masking tape. Butted ends in successive layers shall bealigned or offset.The number of wrap strips layers required is dependent upon the nom diam of the through-penetrant as tabulated below:Diam of Through-Penetrant In. (0.4 mm) thick (30 MSG) galv sheet steel available from wrapstrip manufacturer. Collar shall be nom 2 in. (51 mm) deep with min four 1 in. (25 mm) wide by 2 in. (51 mm) long anchortabs. Retainer tabs, 3/4 in. (19 mm) wide tapering down to 1/4 in. (6 mm) wide and located opposite the anchor tabs arefolded 90 degrees toward through-penetrant to maintain the annular space around the through-penetrant and to retain thewrap strips. Prior to installation of steel collar, 3/4 in. (19 mm) wide by 8 in. (203 mm) long by 0.015 in. (0.4 mm) thick galvsteel hanger strips shall be attached to min four of the anchor tabs by means of 1/4 in. (6 mm) diam by 1/2 in. (13 mm) longsteel bolts in conjunction with steel nuts.Steel collar wrapped around wrap strips and through-penetrant with a 1 in. (25 mm) wide overlap along its perimeter jointand secured together by means of three No. 8 by 1/2 in. (13 mm) long steel screws. Steel collar/wrap strip assembly slidalong through-penetrant into annulus of opening until the bottom edge of steel collar/wrap strip assembly extends a nom 1in. (25 mm) below the bottom surface of floor. Hanger strips shall be bent 90 degrees outward and attached to the topsurface of floor by means of 1/4 in. (6 mm) diam by 1-3/4 in. diam long concrete fasteners. Hangers strips shall extend amin 1-1/2 in. (38 mm) onto the top surface of concrete floor.C. Packing Material - Min 3 in. (76 mm) thickness of min 4 pcf (64 kg/m 3) mineral wool insulation firmly packed to completelyfill the annular space between the steel collar and fill material as a permanent form. Packing material to be recessed fromtop surface of floor as required to accommodate the required thickness of fill material.D. Fill, Void or Cavity Material* - Sealant - Min 1/2 in.
