Town of Sharon Zoning Lawclimate. Biologic diversity offers citizens an attractive and desirable placeto live and recreate. Residents highly value open spaces, wetlands andother important habitat areas and desire to have these important featuresremain.4. Sharon residents highly value the community character of the Town. Inaddition to the physical natural resources, the visual community characteris dominated by agricultural land activities along with the many historicaland scenic resources throughout the Town.3. Further, Town of Sharon has determined that heavy industrial activities and usesof land are in conflict with the Town of Sharon Comprehensive Plan and its landuse policies and laws. Hence, it is the further purpose of this Local Law toprohibit those activities related to heavy industry which may adversely impactwetlands, lakes, streams, groundwater resources, public drinking supplies, thephysical health of Sharon’s citizens, public roads, historic landscapes, agriculture,rural and small town character, and the area’s tourism and recreational-basedeconomy. Impacts related to heavy industry that Sharon seeks to avoid include,but are not limited to contaminated water supplies, air pollution, trafficcongestion, deterioration of roads and bridges, noise, introduction of industrialuses into non-industrial areas, human and animal illness, and incompatiblechanges to the rural character of Town.Section 4 - ScopeA. this Local Law shall apply to the construction, installation or alteration of anybuilding, structure or appurtenant system, any change in use, and any lot, plot orparcel of land used, occupied or otherwise maintained as herein provided for in theTown of Sharon.Section 5 - DefinitionsA. Terms and words used herein are as defined in Article VII of the Code which ishereby made a part of this Local Law.5
