WARNINGS/PRECAUTIONSABOUT THE DEVICEThe device may interfere with electronic monitoring equipment (such asECG monitors and ECG alarms).Electrodes should not be placed over the eyes, in the mouth, or internally.These devices have no curative value. TENS is a symptomatic treatment thatsuppresses the sensation of pain which would otherwise serve as aprotective mechanism.TENS devices should be used only under the continued supervision of aphysician or licensed practitioner.Do not use on broken skin.Effectiveness is highly dependent upon patient selection by a personqualified in pain management using TENS.If the device treatment becomes ineffective or unpleasant, stimulation shouldbe discontinued until re-evaluation by a physician or licensed practitioner.Always turn the device off before applying or removing electrodes.The device does not have AAP/APG protection. An explosion hazard ispossible if used in the presence of explosives, flammable materials orflammable anesthetics.Adverse ReactionsSkin irritation and electrode burns are potential adverse reactions. Stimulationshould be stopped and electrodes removed until the cause of the irritation orburns can be determined. Isolated cases of skin irritation may occur at the siteof electrode placement following long-term application. Always properly cleanskin before use. If skin irritation occurs, discontinue use. Do not resume use ofthe ZZA35OT or the ZZA350 Tens unit until you have seen your physician orlicensed practitioner.The device offers two controllable output channels. This device creates electricalimpulses whose amplitude, duration and modulation can be altered with thedevice controls. THE DEVICE CONTROLSATTACHING THE LEAD WIRESSLIDE COVERA cover conceals the controls for Mode, Time (for ZZA35OT only), Width, andRate. Press the front of the cover and pull down in order to open the cover.AMPLITUDE CONTROLSThe Amplitude Control knobs are located on the top of the unit. The AmplitudeControl knobs function as ON/OFF controls and adjust the intensity of thestimulation.MODEThe Mode switch is used to select/set the type of treatment utilized. The threemodes are Burst (B); Continuous; (C) and Modulation (M).Insert the lead wires into the output receptacle located on top of the unit byholding the insulated portion of the connector, and pushing the plug end of thewire into one of the jacks. After connecting the wires to the unit, attach each wireto an electrode. Lead wires provided with the device are compliant with mandatorycompliance standards as set forth by the FDA. Note: Use caution when youplug and unplug the wires. Pulling on the lead wire instead of the insulatedconnector may cause wire breakage.Caution: Never insert the plug of the lead wire into an AC power supply socket.ELECTRODE SELECTION AND CARETIME (for ZZA35OT only)Treatment time can be set with the Time switch. There are two programs offixed duration for 3O- and 6O-minutes and one program of continuous output.Press the Time switch until the desired position is engaged.WIDTHThe Width dial regulates the width of the pulse for both channels.RATEThe Rate dial regulates the number of pulses per second for both channels.Your physician or licensed practitioner should decide which type of electrodeis best for your condition. Follow application procedures outlined in electrodepackaging to maintain stimulation and prevent skin irritation. The packaging willprovide instructions for care, maintenance and proper storage of the electrodes.Be sure to use the electrodes provided by BodyMed' and/or similar FDA legallymarketed electrodes that are the same size, or larger than, the electrodes thatare provided with this ZZA35OT or ZZA35O Tens unit.
