valueThe success of any advertising and marketing activity depends heavilyon the quality of the ideas that drive it. It rarely depends on theamount of ad spend over a given period.In the UK today, over 70% of advertising agencies still charge theirclients a commission on what they spend. The more a client spends,the more an agency makes.Traditionally, advertising agencies do not add cost where they addvalue and do not add value where they add cost.Therefore, income generated by most UK agencies bears littlerelationship to how hard the agency works or how successful acampaign might be.Again, Nation1 takes a different approach for all the right reasons.A powerful core idea provides the engine for the development ofadvertising and marketing campaigns. Therefore, we think it’s logicaland fair to attach value to that intellectual property.Following that logic, we then agree a value and price for our ideas,with our clients, up front. This charge is only payable if and when wedeliver an idea that the client feels confident about investing in.We do not charge our clients for presenting or pitching our work.We do not charge commission on production, research, media buyingor any other costs we incur on a client’s behalf (these costs are onlycharged prior to purchase of any of the above).We do charge for the development of ideas after a successful pitch, orif a client needs to develop concepts and ideas for evaluation againstcompetitors.We do charge a break-even monthly fee, in advance, calculated onthe in-house resources required to service creative work on a client’saccount.We do charge account management time spent on a client’s account,which is closely monitored and charged according to an agreed rate,each month.We do charge an agency fee, the difference being that it’sperformance related against pre-determined objectives and onlyinvoiced once the success of a campaign has been evaluated.If we don’t meet agreed objectives, you don’t pay the fee.Now we’re finished talking business, let’s talk business!
