SPECIAL OPEN TROPHYWelcome to the Special Open Trophy race event at Snetterton 300today.The Special Open Trophy (SOT) is a BeNeLux series for sport prototypes, CN sports cars and open cars, regulated by the BelgiumFederation RACB Sport and controlled by the FIA. With 73 marksand 143 accepted types of cars the Special Open Trophy starts itsthird season in 2012. Snetterton is the third event of the seasonfor the SOT after the sprint races in Spa Francorchamps and anendurance race in Zolder.Dries HeymanPromotorSpecial Open TrophyLast season, during the final SOT race at Assen (Netherlands) wespoke with all the teams concerning a race weekend in England.After Spa Francorchamps and Zolder, the Snetterton racetrack wasvoted as one of the favorite circuits by the drivers and so we aredelighted to come to Norfolk in the 2012 SOT season.Each round is a combination of 1 endurance race of 160 minutesand 3 sprint races of 20 minutes. Most of the teams consist of 3drivers, with 2 of the drivers taking part in the endurance race andthe third driver participating in the sprint races.The SOT is a series for gentlemen drivers that has seen growthevery season. Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg have avery strong history with GT and Touring cars but in proto’s andCN cars we still have to learn a lot. Most of our teams bought theircar in the UK or France, where you can find a lot of these kinds ofchampionships. Westfield, Caterham, Ligier, Norma, Radical wereunknown in Belgium until 2010, and now the number of thesecars racing grows every week.The Special Open Trophy is definitely in for a great third season,because this series is synonymous with “Racing for Fun”. Acompetition where every driver feels great, a competition whereevery driver feels that he or she is appreciated!We very much hope you enjoy the racing at Snetterton today, andthank you for making us feel very welcome. This meeting is NEAFP permitted.CONDITIONS OF ADMISSIONMotor Racing is dangerous and persons attending the meeting do soentirely at their own risk. It is a condition of admission that all personshaving any connection with the promotion and/or organisation and/orconduct of the meeting, including the owners of the land and the vehicles,are absolved from all liability arising out of accidents, howsoever caused,resulting in damage and/or personal injury to spectators, pass and ticketholders, or to their goods and vehicles.PROGRAMME & COPYRIGHTThe promoters reserve the right to amend or cancel the meeting withoutnotice or refund.
