Objectives• Implementation of Pathfinderfunctions for Ad-Hoc PathRequest.• The goal of the PF system is tobecome an optimal workflowsupport tool for internationaltimetabling cooperation as wellas for the coordination of thecustomer-supplier path requestprocess.Author: RNE| 4 |

Architecture of theIS Pathfinder 3• Pathfinder Integration Platform– Facilitates the communication betweenthe PF-Core system and national systemsof RUs and IMs.– Allows for a bi-directional communicationaccording to the SOA standards (ServiceOriented Architecture).| 7 |

Dossier• The basic entity in IS Pathfinder isa folder, or so-called Dossier.• It is stored in the Pathfinder-Core; withinits lifecycle it goes through several phases,in which the users (RUs and IMs) havedifferent permissions.• The Dossier may be processed onlyby the specified user roles.| 9 |

User roles for processedthe Dossier 1• RU – railway undertaking (carrier)– a request for an international path can involvemultiple RUs.• Leading RU – the leading railwayundertaking– a request for and international path caninvolve only one leading RU,– he fulfils the role of a coordinatorof the RUs.| 10 |

User roles for processedthe Dossier 2• IM – infrastructure manager– a request for an international path can involvemultiple IMs, depending on the area.• Leading IM – leading infrastructuremanager– a request for an international path can involveonly one leading IM,– he fulfils the role of a coordinator of the IMs.| 11 |

Dossier phase Open• The leading RU creates a Dossier and fillsin the required information (among otherthe cooperating RU, the individual IMsabove the area, and the leading IM).• When multiple RUs are involved in thepath request, the Leading RU switches theDossier into the phase of Harmonization.| 12 |

Dossier phaseHarmonization 1• In this phase the information are given bythe other participating RUs inform theleading RU on the elaboration status andfinishing the phase within the UI of theleading RU, using the menu item andbutton Change.| 13 |

Dossier phaseHarmonization 2• The RUs can, depending on the actions onthe Dossier, choose from the followingmenu.– Not yet processed– Being processed– Accepted– Rejected• The leading RU can thereafter change theDossier status to the next phase – asa path request to the infrastructuremanagers.| 14 |

Dossier phases Path Requestand Path Elaboration• These phases are controlled by the IMsamong themselves. The current state oftheir individual sections is given in thePathfinder UI using the statuses and theChange button.| 15 |

Dossier phase Ad-HocRequest Offer• The path sections are constructedseparately by each IM, and the other IMscan see all the sections in summary.• Within the phase Ad-Hoc Request Offer, the leading IM passes the path to the RUsfor approval.| 16 |

Dossier phase Acceptance• If the RUs approve the path, the LeadingRU can move the Dossier into the phaseFinal Offer.• The other participating RUs manifest theapproval by moving into the phasePost processing or Final Offer.| 17 |

Dossier phasePost-processing 1• If any of the RUs does not agree with theoffered path, he can move the request tothe phase of Post-processing.• In this phasethe approval(or disproval)is indicated again, together with the elaboration, using thecoloured marks.| 18 |

Dossier phasePost-processing 2• The IS Pathfinder checks automatically therequests, and when all its participantsindicate approval by the green light, the itmoves the request to the phase FinalOffer.| 19 |

Dossier phase Final Offer• All the participating RUs and IMs approvethe offered timetable – offered path. The Dossier is moved manually orautomatically to the phase ActiveTimetable.| 20 |

Dossier phase ActiveTimetable and Closed• In this phase the Dossier is ready fortvarious amendments, the most often onesinvolving changing the fleet, or changingthe route on the ground of closures.• The last phase Closed is moved manuallyor automatically, too.| 21 |

Communication via the webinterface of IS KADR| 23 |

Communication using ISof Railway undertaking| 24 |

Interconnectionwith IS KADR 1• The national RU needs not to interact withthe environment of IS Pathfinder directly.• The biggest benefit of the interconnectionof IS KADR is that the familiar nationalenvironment is preserved for the RU evenfort the international path requests.| 25 |

Interconnectionwith IS KADR 2• The information system of the IM need nofundamental changes of the processes, either. IS KADR will be only amended bythe phases demanded by the ISPathfinder.| 26 |
