They have no moving parts or wire filaments to burn out. They emit a whiter light, runcooler, and last longer that the incandescent (filament style bulbs) we are replacing in thistutorial.Unlike filament bulbs, LEDs are polarity sensitive. They have plus and minus (positive andnegative) electrical terminals that must match the polarity of the applied voltage. Installing thebulbs “backwards” in the light bulb sockets (with reversed polarity) will not harm them, but theywill not light. Flipping the bulb 180 degrees in the electrical connector cures this problem.Bulb TypesThis kit includes two bulb types, classified by their general shape.FESTOON - Conventional incandescent festoon bulbs have a shape and generalappearance that is similar to a glass fuse.Metal caps attached to both ends of a glasstube are sealed to the tube and attachedto the bulb filament. End caps mount thebulb in its holder and also conduct electricalcurrent.festoonLED festoon lights have the same pointedend caps, but are attached to a bank ofLEDs instead of a filament tube.WEDGE - Wedge style bulbs get theirname from the shape of the bulb base. Insert the narrow tool tip between the lens plastic and any metal collarused to reinforce the lens mounting hole. Push in on the retaining clip first tocompress and release it. Then pry down.• The spring bulb retainer is also the circuit conductor. If necessary, gently bendthe metal retainer so it holds the bulb tight. Ziza Interior Lighting Package InstallationES2215063Front Dome - Step 3Lower both sun visors, and pull them off to the side,out of your way.Using a T20 Torx® driver, unscrew and remove thesun visor attachment clips.Fits BMW E90Front Dome - Step 4Gently lower the front edge of the headliner, andreach up between the headliner and the roof of thecar; push against the metal console clips to releasethem, and drop the console down.Front Dome - Step 5Twist and pull the three bulb holders to removethem from their sockets in the console panel.Remove the original bulbs and insert a new 5-chipLED in each holder.These are polarity sensitive. Ziza Interior Lighting Package InstallationES2215063Front Dome - Step 6Insert the rear of the console into the headliner asshown and tip the front upward until the clips snapin place.Replace the sun visor clips.Fits BMW E90Vanity Mirror Lights - Step 1Using your fingertips or a non-marring trim removaltool, pry down on the light assembly as shown torelease it from the headliner.Vanity Mirror Lights - Step 2Remove the original filament festoon bulb and inserta new 42mm festoon LED array in its place.Install it with the LED chips facing the lens.The LEDs are polarity sensitive. This compresses the spring clips thatretain the console in the headliner.(Our photo shows the clips.)Drop the front of the console down.Rear Dome - Step 2Use the same procedures used on the front domelight; replace the three original bulbs with 5-chipLEDs.Test the LEDs. Pry on the side of the light assemblyaway from the light control switch rod; pivot the lightdownward.Insert a new festoon LED in the bulb holder. Testoperation and flip end-for-end if the bulb does notwork initially.Reinstall the light assembly.FootwellUsing a trim removal tool, pry down a footwell lightassembly.Insert a new 5-chip wedge base LED into the bulbholder. Ziza Interior Lighting Package InstallationES2215063Puddle Lamps - Step 1Pry down on the notched end of the puddle lampassemblies in the door bottoms.Fits BMW E90Puddle Lamps - Step 2Twist and pull to remove the puddle lamp bulbholder from the light assembly.Replace the original bulb with a 5-chip wedge styleLED. Test the LED and flip it over to reverse thepolarity if it does not work initially.Insert the LED/bulb holder into the light assemblyand twist to lock it in place.Snap the light back into the door bottom. Repeatthe process at the opposite door.Trunk Lamp - Step 1Pry down on the notched end of the trunk lightassembly.The rear of the assembly is covered by a metalheat shield.
