I took over from CarolynCasserley in Nov 07 as Medical Specialist OutreachProgram (MSOP) Midwife. The lovely Carolyn has returnedto maternity at Alice Springs Hospital (ASH) and left somebig shoes to fill. I came to Alice Springs in 2002 primarilyto get remote experience in Midwifery so I could workwith Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF). Here I am 5 yearslater. I’ve worked as a Remote Area Nurse (RAN) and alsoat ASH. The MSOP position provides the best of bothworlds. It’s a great opportunity to see most of CentralAustralia and meet many interesting and varied people. Also I feel a deep commitment to Indigenous health, especially Women’s health. The four Obstetrics andGynecology Specialists I work with all great to work with.My goals for 2008 - assist MSOP to see as many womenas possible, assist the clinics with their Pap recalls andget a more useful and meaningful database happening.I’m also studying through James Cook University (JCU) soplan to complete two subjects of Masters of Public Healthand Tropical Medicine (MPHTM). So should be a busy andproductive year.Tania CookeAdministration OfficerI started with PCD on the 3rd of January as AdministrationAssistant. Before that I was working for Dept.
