The resources of theUniversity are channelled into active participation in the great European networks (Coimbra Group, UNICA, UtrechtNetwork), in <strong>ERASMUS</strong>, <strong>ERASMUS</strong>-MUNDUS, CEEPUS and other mobility programmes. Bilateral relationships<strong>form</strong> a solid basis for joint training and research programmes.Since ELTE aims to facilitate student mobility, besides paying special attention to credit transfer agreements, ELTEis seeking partner institutions whose courses match or complement ELTE curricula. To attract incoming students,ELTE offers a wide range of courses in foreign languages and provides high quality services, such as Hungarianlanguage and culture courses, International Students’ Advisory Service, tutoring, social programmes and an Englishwebsite.As for teacher mobility, the main objectives of ELTE are: enhancing and updating courses by inviting guest lecturersand also providing Hungarian lecturers with the opportunity to teach abroad. Teacher mobility is promoted bylaunching joint projects focussed on curricula development and research. Apart from stimulating researcher andstudent exchanges, ELTE also aims to promote the idea of lifelong learning, mobility and sharing of experiencesamong staff involved in education/research management and services.In order to raise Erasmus-related decision making to an institutional level, to improve communication and to facilitatethe sharing of good practices, ELTE established the Committee of Student and Teacher Mobility, comprising facultyand Student Union representatives. Committee members – on the one hand - provide every faculty with in<strong>form</strong>ation(Lifelong Learning, Erasmus programme news, university events and achievements) – on the other hand – they playa pivotal role in shaping ELTE’s Erasmus Programme Strategy (EPS). Erasmus-related issues are also discussed at<strong>form</strong>al and in<strong>form</strong>al meetings, workshops. In<strong>form</strong>ation is disseminated in central and faculty publications and also onwebsites (Hungarian and English), where EUC and EPS documents are also available.Since ELTE has a commitment to equal opportunities, the Equal Opportunities Plan covers not only teachers’,students’, researchers’ opportunities it also takes into consideration service employees. The mobility of students withsocial disadvantage is supported by social grants distributed by the Student Union. Ensuring accessibility for thedisabled is of high priority whenever campus reconstruction or other construction works are planned. particular accommodation), preparatory and refresher language courses, support and acknowledgement of staffmobility.To ensure transparency and high quality in academic mobility activities, a university-level Committee of Student andTeacher Mobility is responsible for decision making and programme supervising. The Committee makes decisionson basic principles, unified proposals – in accordance with faculty-level requirements. The Committee works outevaluation criteria and records the processes of proposal submission and implementation. It reviews incomingreports and – according to these – defines development objectives. The assessment of proposals is per<strong>form</strong>ed bythe faculties. To assure the recognition of credits earned through Erasmus programmes – according to LearningAgreements –, credit transfer regulations are outlined in the "Students' Rights and Obligations” of the new Statutesof ELTE.To support student mobility, besides disseminating in<strong>form</strong>ation in English and Hungarian via websites (calls forproposals, partner universities, language courses etc.) and publications, the University – in cooperation with theStudent Union - operates the Students' Advisory Service, which assists both incoming and outgoing Erasmusstudents. Outgoing students are provided with in<strong>form</strong>ation on foreign universities, study opportunities andscholarships. Incoming students can find assistance in all kinds of practical matters (finding accommodation,applying for a residence permit, health insurance etc.) Furthermore, ELTE offers all new incoming students apersonal student tutor, who introduces them to student life.International experiences, activities and achievements are key factors in teacher promotion. The University intendsto pay special attention to encouraging the exchange of young teachers. ELTE also puts extra emphasis on takingadvantage of staff mobility opportunities. To achieve this, ELTE will in<strong>form</strong> its employees of mobility opportunities ona constant basis and will review its partner relationships in order to tailor them to include staff mobility as well.Quality of student placement activities:What kind of specific measures are implemented to ensure high quality in student placements? Give details on howthe work-programme and the placement agreement are prepared and implemented. Please describe the practicalarrangements agreed between the parties. Please specify also the monitoring and evaluation of the placement periodas well as its recognition in the curriculum.Firstly, ELTE has to identify work placement needs in different training programmes. The next step is the discussionand matching of ELTE needs with the placement offer of the host departments. Then students are in<strong>form</strong>ed aboutplacement opportunities. The final step in the first phase is the selection of candidates and definition of the lengths ofdifferent work placements.The next stage involves: arranging trilateral or quadrilateral work placement agreements between the sending andthe host department, and/or organisation, and the students (beneficiaries). The agreement defines the rights andobligations of the parties; it specifies the kind and duration of the work experience and describes the tasks to beaccomplished by the students (observational tasks, participation in activities, working tasks under supervision,evaluation, follow-up and supervision by the host department, diaries, written reports). The agreement alsodescribes the content of the certificate and of the report on the accomplishment of the work tasks as well as therecognition of the training in the curriculum.Monitoring and evaluation of work placements will be assured by the supervision of the host department and throughmonitoring visits of TS of the sending department (especially at the beginning of the cooperation) and also throughwritten reports of students (diaries, questionnaires with organisational, professional and social aspects) as well asreports of the host organisation.Academic recognition of the work placement is assured if the written report/certification of the host organisation, thewritten report of the student and the results of monitoring certify that the conditions of the work placement agreementhave been fulfilled.
