An Ahmadi who claims tocome into the fold of the Bai’atof the Promised Messiah (as)should always keep these wordsin view, should reflect over themand should try to adapt one’s lifein accordance to them. Thisalone will make him/her one whohonours the dues of Bai’at.Otherwise it is a mere claim tosay that we are Ahmadi. Thetruth and the faith that thePromised Messiah (as) wished tobring, for which his advent tookplace and which inspires Taqwa(righteousness) is nothing new. Hiswords expressing that such a time‘comes once again’ signify thatsuch a time once was, but itceased to be and it is the task ofthe Promised Messiah (as) torevive it. Indeed, we are fullyaware that the era of truth andfaith with well-establishedrighteousness came with itsutmost glory and magnificencewhen God sent our master, theHoly Prophet (saw) andperfected Shariah. As the Qur’anstates: ‘…This day have Iperfected your religion for youand completed My favour uponyou and have chosen for youIslam as religion…’ (5:4). Thus noAhmadi can even remotelyimagine that the PromisedMessiah (as) brought any newmessage. When we assert that as Ahmadiswe have believed in thePromised Messiah (as), we needto reflect whether we have triedto bring about those changes inour faith which the Qur’anteaches and the Companions(ra) ofthe Prophet (saw) inculcated.Have we tried to instil that truth inourselves which a large numberof believers of the time of theProphet (saw) inculcated througha revolutionary change, have weinculcated that righteousnesswhich we read about and listento in the life of the Companions(ra)? The Promised Messiah (as)brought about such revolutionarychanges in his Companions (ra)and Hudhur often relates theiraccounts. After stating the words,‘I was sent so that the era of truthand faith comes once again andrighteousness is generated inhearts’, the Promised Messiah (as)said, ‘these practices are the realreason of my being’. ThePromised Messiah (as) has alsoaddressed his followers as‘evergreen branches of mybeing’.Page 3April-June 2011 ● Volume 2, Issue 4-6 ● Birmingham West
