Itflows upward through a packed bed or through a seriesof bubble cap or valve trays filled with glycol wherethorough contact is made. The gas gives up watervapor to the glycol as it passes upward and leaves theabsorber as dry gas ready to enter the sales line.GlycolThe dry concentrated glycol is continuously pumped tothe top tray of the absorber. As the glycol moves downwardfrom tray to tray it absorbs the water vapor fromthe rising gas stream. The wet glycol is then removedat the bottom of the absorber and pumped through alarge preheating coil in the surge tank. It then entersthe still column at the top of the reboiler where thewater vapor is stripped away as steam.Glycol PumpThe Glycol Pump takes glycol at absorber pressure,moves it into the reboiler at atmospheric pressure, andthen returns it to pressure adequate to drive the glycolback into the abosrber. All this is accomplished byutilizing some of the gas at absorber pressure to drive thesystem without an additional source of outside energy.The Glycol Pump operates in various demandingconditions: high temperature, high pressure, variedchemical contaminates, and potential of a wide range ofabrasive materials.Nearly 50 years of demanding service have proven theruggedness and dependability of the unique and robustdesign.The regenerated glycol spills down into the surgetank and is pumped to the top of the absorber to startanother cycle.
