Connection for air extractionImportant: To avoid the danger oftoxic fumes, please observe theWarning and Safety instructions. This is especially crucial when usingthe cooker hood at the same time asanother heating appliance whichrelies on air from the same room. The cooker hood should be installedaccording to local and nationalbuilding regulations. Seek approvalfrom the building inspector wherenecessary.– Only use smooth pipes or flexiblehoses made from non-flammablematerials for the extraction ducting. To achieve the greatest possible airextraction with the lowest noise level, please note the following:– To ensure efficient air extraction, thediameter of the exhaust ductingshould not be less than 150 mm.– If flat ducting is being used, thecross-sectional area must not besmaller than the cross-sectional areaof the exhaust connection.– All ducting, pipework and fittingsmust be of non-flammable materials.– The exhaust ducting should be asshort and straight as possible.– Only use wide radius bends.– The exhaust ducting should not bekinked or compressed.– Ensure that all connections arestrong and airtight.– Where ducting is horizontal, it mustbe laid to slope away at at least 1 cmper metre. This is to ensure thatcondensate cannot drain back intothe cooker hood.– If the exhaust air is to be ducted intothe open air, the installation of atelescopic wall vent or roof vent(available as an optional accessory)is recommended.– If the exhaust air is to be ducted intoa vent flue, the ducting must bedirected in the flow direction of theflue.Important:If the exhaust ducting is to run throughrooms, ceiling space etc. where theremay be great variations in temperaturebetween the different areas, theproblem of condensation will need tobe addressed. The exhaust ducting willneed to be suitably insulated.29

Connection for air extractionCondensate trap(optional accessory)In addition to insulating the exhaustducting, we recommend that a suitablecondensate trap is also installed tocollect and evaporate any condensatewhich may occur. Condensate trapsare available for 125 mm or 150 mm ducting. When installing a condensate trap, ensure that it is positioned verticallyand if possible directly above theexhaust connection. The arrow on thehousing indicates the direction ofair-flow.30

Connection for air extractionSilencer(optional accessory)To achieve even further reductions innoise levels, a special silencer can befitted in the ducting system....with air extraction:The silencer not only reduces noisefrom the fan, but also sounds fromoutside (e.g. traffic noise). For this reason the silencer must bepositioned as close as possible to wherethe ducting leaves the building ....in recirculation mode:The silencer needs to be positionedbetween the fan and the exhaust grille. Ensure there is adequate space forfitting it.In all modes of operation, the mosteffective noise reductions areachieved if two silencers are fitted inthe system.31
