FLYFISHINGNORWAYS PRIZED ATLANTIC SALMONThe low down:The week is based around taking anything from a complete first timer, through tothe experienced spey casting, and teaching, fine tuning, and helping expand theircasting arsenal. The ability to Spey cast will help you through all forms of flycasting. Whether its a small trout stream back home with no casting room, or a130ft cast up against a cliff face in Russia, there’s a Spey cast that will get you outof it. Derek, Mark, Jono, Jako and Vidar have combined over 40 years ofcombined Spey casting instrucitonal experience! If we cant fix it or teach it, thenit cant be taught. Bring along a sense of humour, an open mind, and you will gohome not only enlightened, but envigorated by Norway as a country too.The fishing:Atlantic Salmon return to the rivers through the Spring and Summer to spawn.Having gorged themselves strong and fat over winter at sea, these fish return asbarrels of silver, and fight like nothing else. To land a fish over 20lbs is as muchluck as it is skill, as on this river runs are by standard small, and keeping your fishin the pool is a challenge. This really is a fishermans river.The fishing is getting better and better on the Osen. Hit it right, after some goodrains, and you could have better numbers and fishing, than many other AtlanticSalmon rivers in the world. Average sizes of summer run fish are up at around12lbs.July also offers superb fishing at night for Sea Trout, and here you castingtechnique will be put to the test, as you aim perfect casts to rises in the darkness.Whats in and whats not:There are several options for flights, but you will want to end up in Bergen orOslo. From Bergen a 4 hour drive to the lodge, or a 30 minute flight will get youto Floro where you will be collected and taken through to Osen Gard. Allequipment, rods, waders can be provided, and outside of tipping (if you so wish)at the end of your week, this lodge is all inclusive of 3 first class meals a day,guided fishing services and accommodations.In addition there will be some tremendous prizes up for grabs from top brands.In conjunction with Simms and Sage, there will be a main prize to the value ofR20 000.
