• When building and making university wide changes, e.g. HAQ we need to do more conversationcafé’s with employees and we need to know we are listened to. Feedback that came in fromthose working in these areas was not taken into consideration. There were conversations butno follow through. Decisions cannot be made by only architects and senior leadership.• There has been more transparency with information and we should continue to do more. Weneed to communicate cross the university instead of just higher levels.• President needs to come out into the community and support the new brand. Marketing cannotbe doing what they need to do but without his support. Some areas within the university maynot have the buy in to use the new branding. We need to have consistent message and look forthe university and the President can help support this effort. There needs to be guidelinesaround use of marketing and printing so things can be communicated consistently. Establishguidelines – “brand police.”• Sometimes we do not know what each area does; spending all this money to educate studentsbut we are often not pulling together all possible stakeholders and not using as much money todo things. We need to be more open with collaboration.• Break down the silos within the university and better understand how we can leverage talentsand skills across campus.• We talk a lot about lots of things, but we need to decide on ONE thing and see it through tofruition, e.g. SRTF.• Personal care vs. technology. Personal care is what makes X different. We need to balance andbe sensitive to this, not only for students but also for employees. Can’t lose sight of what ourheritage is. It is a balancing act.• It is great that many employees stay at X for a long time; but we still could do more.• Need to really make some hard decisions. We are a lean organization and we have taken onnew things. We need to ask ourselves the hard questions if there are things we should stopdoing and change up things we are doing. (e .g. timesheets are labor and paper intensive; fixingrec center) What are our overall campus priorities?• We must plan for contingencies and strive for disciplined growth.• To keep good people we need to pay to market to retain them.• We are always talking in the future. What are we saying to our students that are here now?Make sure we are giving our current students what they need today….technology, physical. Weneed to stop saying what we will have in the future.
