Advancing Strategic InitiativesEach year, the Northwestern University Highest Order ofExcellence II provides the platform for NorthwesternUniversity Information Technology StrategicPlanning. As a result, the Northwestern UniversityInformation Technology Strategic Plan 2008-2010was created through the development and renewal ofstrategic goals to advance research, scholarship, andadministrative endeavors in the following Universityidentifiedareas:• Faculty and the Environment for Creative Work• Students and the Environment for Learning• The Technology Enabling InfrastructureAdditionally, strategic goals were created tosupport the Staff and the Environment forEffective Administration.It is the highest priority of NorthwesternUniversity Information Technology to supportthe institutional excellence of NorthwesternUniversity.The 2008-2010 NUIT Strategic Planning processbegan in October 2006. With representationfrom administrative and academic units includingdeans, vice presidents, and numerous committees,a comprehensive analysis of the informationtechnology environment at Northwestern Universitywas completed. The most relevant findings wereincorporated into the strategic plan.This report outlines how NUIT executed the strategy,highlighting the innovative use of technologyto enhance learning, teaching, and the businessoperations at Northwestern University.
