CONCLUSIONSIn LDR, were identified and confirmed two spawning sites for belugasturgeon and sterlet, the rocky cliffs from r Km 100 (Isaccea) and r Km310-311.Beluga sturgeon and sterlet share the spawning grounds, in the sameperiod as demonstrated by larvae analysis.Spawning of beluga and sterlet - 2 - 3 days after the water level peakof the spring season and is decreasing constantly, at watertemperatures of 6.5 – 18 º C.The finding was verified in 2004, 2007, 2008, 2010 by capturinglarvae at predicted date & site.


CONCLUSIONSThese data allow us to predict the date when beluga YOY descend tothe monitoring site at river Km 123.Monitoring the downstream migration of YOY suggests the repeatedspawning events of stellate in the Danube River.Unlike the beluga sturgeon and sterlet, spawning of stellatus seems tobe independent on water level.Monitoring the downstream migration of adults, …..to be continued
