Engaged Research –Some concluding thoughts Research and Business and Community Engagement have developedwith different cultures...Engaged Research? Govt has funded (HEIF etc) about 7000 KE/BCE practitioners ininstitutions with the skills and experience to do engagement/brokering Engagement still underdeveloped (most institutions): skills; infrastructure Engagement: big challenge to traditional academic cultures:20 year change prog. – half way through? Research-Innovation gap. Higher Education Institutions – public money: public good. Charities. HEIs can play a major role in solving society’s problems –but in partnership with society not handed down from on high Continuum: (paying) Students become Alumni and Business/communityreps: HEIs needs to harness the continuum of this relationshipThank you.
