THURSDAY NIGHT FEVER!!We all know how popular the school discos are withthe legendary DJ Fryer playing the tunes. Butwhat do we all really think of the `fun` night out?Peace out!Although the teachers seem to enjoy thedancing and definitely the fizzy drinks, wethink that throughout the year groups, pupilsseem to think that the disco's are becomingboring as the same songs and thingshappen every time. However, a new additionto the discos are the BBQ `s, cateredfor by Mrs Callaghan`s and Mrs Moore'smasterful cooking skills! Disco's are also achance for the pupils to come together, socialise and have a bit of fun, so makesure you don't miss out on the next disco.Disco's normally take place on a Thursday eveningfrom six pm to eight pm, where all years are invitedto have some fun and gobble up the schoolssweetie stash however, do the pupils actually comeand enjoy the night? We asked some year 7 pupilstheir views and this is what a few of them said:”Enjoyable, very good but maybe a better varietyof songs and more tuck-shop stock as by the middleof the night all the good stuff is gone”Mr Fryer and Mr Parr `rockin’ out!OTHER OPINIONS: Kim Sheldon: They have got good songs butmaybe tone it down on the Justin Bieber and one direction not all girlslove them! Harri Lawton: They have overpriced tuck and not enoughsweets! Ben Milner: They have funky music! Josie Glass:Good laugh!Nice dance moves!Reported By Lottie Moss

YEAR 8 BTEC SPORTS...WHAT ON EARTH IS IT?!?During the Autumn term, 10 year 8’s werebeen given the opportunity to complete acourse and pass a BTEC sports exam. Thiswas basically a number of GCSE taster sessionsfor sport with 4 parts to it and for eachpart you must complete 30 hours of revision. These 10 gifted and talented pupils have beenputting themselves through many exhaustingexercises such as the bleep test. This was basicallyrunning up and down for a very longtime while steadily increasing your speed. This was an eye opening experience for all involvedas they got the chance to learn abouteach others sports and realize how hard it wasto compete to the standard of others. Oneamazing treat they had was that Olympicchampion Michelle Vidler (when she was competingshe was called Michelle Roberts) cameinto school to teach us judo, below are whatsome people thought of the experience ...Mental Toughness TrainingEloise Baker, Josie Glass, Xenia Balderstone, Kim Sheldon, LottieMoss. Sally Higton, Alex Hurst, Luke Harrison and Sam LeeseTime was spent learning about the 6 ‘championmakingvalues.’ (1/2) Mental Toughness which wasall about the desire to achieve. They had to test thisby standing against a wall as if they were sitting on achair. (this was very painful and I don't advise it) Thepicture above says it all. (3) People Skills they hadto learn about the people that they would need tosucceed. (4) Sports and Life Knowledge wherethey had to know the facts of sports like the rules andregulations. (5) Breaking Barriers to acknowledgethat the only difficulties you have are the ones yougive yourself. (6) Planning for Success which wasall about knowing where your are heading to andplanning for your future to make it the best it can be!Lottie Moss 8a:It was very inspiringSally-Ann Higton 8b:It was very good and you got to learn a lotabout judoSam Leese 8a:I wanted to do more physical but it was OKXenia Balderstone 8a:Didn't do any JUDO moves but it was still anamazing experience.Michelle Vidler in Olympic ActionReported By :Josie
