Thesurvey covered <strong>the</strong> rema<strong>in</strong>der of <strong>the</strong> range of foods normally available: fruit andvegetables, canned foods, meat, fish and dairy products, frozen foods, cereals,desserts, etc. A total of 358 products were identified.An analysis of <strong>the</strong> details given on product labels was undertaken <strong>in</strong> order toassess <strong>the</strong> products’ nutritional value – pr<strong>in</strong>cipally <strong>the</strong> fat, saturated fat, sugar andsalt – and <strong>the</strong> additives used <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> products. These details are reproduced for all358 products <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Appendix to this <strong>report</strong>.Of <strong>the</strong> children’s products exam<strong>in</strong>ed, 32% failed to give <strong>in</strong><strong>format</strong>ion aboutsaturated fat, sugar, and sodium. Of those that did provide <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong><strong>format</strong>ion, 30%conta<strong>in</strong>ed high levels of saturated fat, 57% were high <strong>in</strong> sugar and 46% were high<strong>in</strong> sodium.
