This programhas specialized admissions requirements as dictated by The United Way,working in conjunction with The Women’s Center, and those meeting the requirementshave their program tuition paid by a grant from The United Way.The program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in theoil and gas and other power production industries. Successful completionallows students to attend a closed career fair with energy industry partners.<strong>Program</strong> admission applications are processed through The Women’sCenter of <strong>Tarrant</strong> <strong>County</strong>. In addition, prior to admission into the programeach participant must pass a criminal background investigation. For moreinformation, contact The Women’s Center at 817-927-4050.Pilot and Instrument Ground SchoolCourses include instruction in basic elements of private pilot ground schooland instrument ground school. Instruction includes flight fundamentals,airplane systems, air traffic control, navigation, weather theory and federalair regulations. Instrument ground school covers aerial navigation systems,instruments and charts used for instrument flight, and FAA regulations.Courses qualify as part of a program leading to FAA certification.Location: NWElectronics and Technology<strong>Program</strong> provides skills and knowledge for electricians and computermaintenance technicians. Courses offer instruction in basic electronicsincluding the analysis of DC-AC circuits and solid state circuits.Locations: SORobotics and Automation<strong>Program</strong> prepares individuals to become robotics and automationtechnicians. Instruction includes technical and manual skills needed tofabricate, test, install, operate and maintain automated equipment.Locations: SOWelding Technician<strong>Program</strong> prepares individuals for entry-level work in the welding field.The program provides knowledge of systems and practical skills inshielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, layout and fabrication,and flux cored arc welding. The program concludes with a capstonecourse in a basic gas tungsten arc welding project.Locations: SOwww.tccd.edu/ContinuingEducationHealth CareOphthalmic Assistant <strong>Program</strong>This series of courses provides individuals with skills and knowledge for entrylevelwork in an ophthalmology office, optometry office, optician or opticaloffice setting. <strong>Program</strong> provides instruction on testing and measuring eyefunction, fitting and dispensing contact lenses and eyeglasses, and other officeduties such as appointment scheduling, third-party management, payroll,purchasing, billing/collections, etc.Locations: TRCentral Sterile Processing TechnicianThis program provides training in the principles, methods and controls ofsterilization processes; and the cleaning, processing, packaging distributing,storing and inventory control of sterile goods, instruments, trays and equipmentfor the Central Sterile Department of a health-care facility. This department is thehub of activity surrounding supplies and equipment need for surgery, obstetricsand other patient care areas. Hospitals will continue as the primary employer ofcentral service technicians, although some employment growth is expected inoffices and clinics of physicians, including ambulatory surgical centers, as wellas nursing homes and assisted living facilities.Locations: TRDietary Manager<strong>Program</strong> provides on-the-job training for supervisory positions in healthcarefood service. <strong>Program</strong> includes skills and knowledge in food servicemanagement, nutrition planning, and preparing and serving food. <strong>Program</strong>includes practical projects and experiences at a health-care facility.Locations: SELong-Term Care Activity Director<strong>Program</strong> prepares individuals to develop and provide services and recreationalactivities to those residing in long-term care facilities. <strong>Program</strong>includes skills and knowledge in assessing medical records, observation,and consultation with other staff members to provide activities consistentwith the client’s needs and abilities.Locations: TRMassage TherapyTCC’s Massage Therapy Certification <strong>Program</strong>, located on South Campus,is designed to teach students of all ages and learning levels the techniquesof Swedish Massage. During the 580-hour program, students will learn to perform:Chair massage, hot stone massage, deep tissue massage, simple reflexologyfoot massage, and two-therapist massage treatments in collaborationwith a classmate. Graduates are prepared for the Texas Department of StateHealth Services (TX DSHS) MBLEx exam for licensure.Locations: SOMedical Coder<strong>Program</strong> prepares individuals to organize and evaluate patient records for completenessand accuracy. <strong>Program</strong> includes study of coding medical informationfor insurance purposes and knowledge of classification manuals and diseaseprocesses. The state of Texas requires Medical Coders to be certified. TheAmerican Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) certification is available.Locations: TRNurse AideCourses prepare individuals to provide nursing-related bedside care inhealth-care facilities. Courses include skills and knowledge required toprepare students to take the Texas Department of Aging and DisabilityExamination for Nurse Aide to become a Certified Nurse Aide.
