Undergraduate ProgramPayment <strong>of</strong> Tuition and FeesAll tuition and fees are due and payable each semester, not later than the first <strong>of</strong>ficial day<strong>of</strong> class. Only those students who register for a given semester during early registration willbe billed for the semester in advance. Accounts may later be adjusted and rebilled based onchanges in class schedules, housing arrangements and financial aid awards. Students whoare not early registered and billed prior to the beginning <strong>of</strong> the semester must be preparedto pay tuition and fees at the time they register. A fee <strong>of</strong> $25 will be charged for latepayment.If a student is registered for a particular semester but elects not to attend, the studentmust <strong>of</strong>ficially notify the Registrar. Non-attendance does not cancel charges and thestudent will be held financially accountable for all classes for which she/he is registered.PLEASE NOTE: If payment arrangements have not been made by the end <strong>of</strong> thedrop/add period, the student’s registration is subject to cancellation. The <strong>University</strong>reserves the right to deny access to, or use <strong>of</strong>, <strong>University</strong> facilities to any student with anoutstanding balance.Payment <strong>of</strong> fees is the responsibility <strong>of</strong> the student, regardless <strong>of</strong> sponsorship by athird party or by his or her employer.Contractual ObligationsThe registration <strong>of</strong> a student signifies the assumption <strong>of</strong> definite financial obligationsbetween the student and the <strong>University</strong>.Method <strong>of</strong> PaymentTuition, special fees, housing, and other assessments may be paid by cash, check, andmoney order (made payable to <strong>Mercer</strong> <strong>University</strong>). The <strong>University</strong> also accepts onlinepayments be credit card and electronic check. MasterCard,American Express, andDiscover are processed for a small convenience fee, and electronic checks are acceptedat no additional cost to the payer. These forms <strong>of</strong> payment may be remitted online onlyby accessing Bearport. Check your student portal for more information.Students will be notified <strong>of</strong> their anticipated amounts <strong>of</strong> financial aid by way <strong>of</strong> awardnotifications or letters from the Office <strong>of</strong> Student Financial Planning.In an ongoing effort to assist our students financially, <strong>Mercer</strong> <strong>of</strong>fers a MonthlyPayment Plan, which allows the student to pay tuition in monthly installments. Also,students who receive company reimbursement are eligible to participate in our DeferredPayment Plan. For more information concerning these payment options, please contactthe Office <strong>of</strong> the Bursar on the Cecil B. Day Campus or visit theirwebsite at www.mercer.edu/bursar.VA BenefitsIndividuals who are contemplating enrollment and are eligible to receive financialassistance through the U.S. Department <strong>of</strong> Veterans Affairs, should contact the<strong>University</strong>’s Office <strong>of</strong> the Registrar regarding VA certification. VA recipients should notassume that contacting the Registrar relieves them <strong>of</strong> payment obligations. Unless thestudent is eligible to participate in the VA Chapter 31 Benefits Program (allowing schools tobill the government and receive direct payment) the benefits are paid to the student, notthe university. Therefore, students who receive VA benefits must make appropriatepayment arrangements with the Office <strong>of</strong> the Bursar not later than the first day <strong>of</strong> classeach semester.42
