Setting the coffee grinderA good espresso or coffee with a thick, even crema (froth)depends not only on the quality, pressure and temperature ofthe water and the quality of the coffee beans, but also on thequantity of beans and how finely they are ground. The crema should have an even colour with dark stripesrunning through it.You can set the amount of coffee beans to be ground in themain menu (see "Settings: Customising your machine -"Amount of coffee").Always adjust the amount of beans to be ground onestage at a time only and then let the machine grind thisquantity before adjusting the amount again. Otherwise themachine will be damaged. There are various ways to tell whether the coffee grinder is setcorrectly:– If espresso or coffee flows too quickly into the cup, itmeans that the coffee has been ground too coarsely andthe pressure is not sufficient. The grinder should be set ona finer setting.– If espresso or coffee only trickles into the cup, the coffeehas been ground too finely and the coffee will be bitter.
