The usual fees forthis program are CHF 930.-/week, however SEG, SwissEducation Group sponsors CHF 500.- if you enroll for a 1to 4 year program.These fees include tuition, accommodation (in doublestandard room), meals and all additional charges.

All costs to the authorities are included. Foreignnationals staying in Switzerland for more than one week have topay a daily tax to the local authorities. HIM covers this tax.VATAll expenses for VAT (Value Added Tax) are covered in your fees.2) PrE-DEPArTurE ASSISTAnCE,InTroDuCTIon wEEk-EnDPre-Departure orientation SessionIn many countries, HIM or its local representatives organise Pre-Departure orientation sessions about 2 weeks before leaving forSwitzerland.welcome DeskDuring arrival weekend, HIM has a Welcome Desk in GenevaAirport to provide HIM students with any help they may requireon arrival in Switzerland. HIM organises transportation fromGeneva Airport to Montreux, at an additional charge of CHF 175.-one way.10 Introduction workshops10 Check-in Workshops are organised on Saturday and Sundayof the arrival weekend to help students to get importantinformation about their stay in Switzerland.3) ACADEmICSTuitionTuition by qualified and experienced lecturers. The number oflessons depend on selected program and year of study (pleaserefer to brochure for details).books & Teaching materialExcellent, modern, up-to-date books, as well as all requiredteaching materials are included in the fees.Academic guidanceThe Program Leaders or Academic Dean guide studentsthrough the academic term and are available to solve anyacademic problems that may occur.Study Advisor1 st and 2 nd year students with initial difficulties in certain subjectscan request a study advisor, who is normally a student of the samenationality. A maximum of 10 hours per semester is covered byHIM, additional hours are charged at CHF 10.- per hour.InternetStudents have free access to the internet in either the InternetCafe, the internet computer room or by using the wirelessinternet access with the airport modem.libraryStudents have free access to the Library. An experiencedlibrarian is available to offer assistance.graduation & Final QualificationAt the end of the chosen academic program, graduates, relativesand friends are invited to participate in the Award Ceremony.4) InTErnSHIP SErVICESThe HIM Internship Office assists students in the 1 st year of theMain Program and the PGD Program to find an internship inSwitzerland or abroad.CV Interview/Job Interviews/work ContractDuring the CV Interview, the Internship Officer will discuss witheach student individually her/his Curriculum Vitae and updateit in the HIM database. As soon as a hotel/restaurant confirmsinterest, a job interview will be arranged. Students will beprovided with details regarding the location of the interview andrequested preparation. The work contract is then signed directlybetween the employer and the student.Assistance during InternshipThe HIM Internship Office remains available to offer anyassistance or help requested during the internship.Internship VisitsAn HIM Internship Officer normally visits the students duringthe internship.Assistance for 2 nd /3 rd year students2 nd year students are encouraged to find their own internshipas part of their academic skills development. However, theInternship Office remains available if help is requested.Internship reportThe Internship Office establishes, together with the employer,an Internship report at the end of the employment.5) ACCommoDATIonroomsIncluded in the fees is accommodation in Standard Doublerooms. HIM also offers a range of more exclusive rooms.

A specialmajor event is the “Cultural Night”.8) InSurAnCE AnD SoCIAl ASSISTAnCEInsuranceStudents are covered during the academic term against illnessand accident. Details of the insurance conditions are statedin the Student Handbook. Students keep this same insuranceduring their internship and benefit from a discounted monthlypremium of app. CHF 110.-/month.Social AssistanceOur student counsellor is available for any personal or medicalassistance required. For serious situations, she will arrange adoctor’s visit.9) HIm buSInESS SuIT & unIFormSThe following suit/uniform is included for 1 st year and PGDstudents:• 1 business suit (1 jacket plus 1 pair of trousers or 1 skirt)10) AFTEr grADuATIon SErVICES & AlumnIAfter graduationHIM prides itself on its graduate placement services. HIM runsa fulltime Placement Office which assists students to findopportunities for employment after graduation.AlumniMembership to the HIM Alumni is included for graduatestudents. Alumni events are organised in many countriesaround the world.Special Diet• For vegetarians, a special main course is available.• For students who cannot eat pork or beef due to religiousreasons, other choices will be available.


Enrollment ProceduresSTEP 1: EnrollmEnT FormFill in the enrollment form and send it together with the followingdocuments to our local representative or to HIM:1) Transcript of your previous education;2) Letter of Motivation3) TOEFL, IELTS or HIM English placement test results;4) Work references if available;5) Passport size pictures;6) Copy of valid passport.STEP 2: ProVISIonAl ACCEPTAnCEIf your application is successful and the requested course is stillavailable, we will send the Provisional Acceptance within 1 week.The deposit should then be paid within 4 weeks:CHF 3’300.- if cancellation insurance is requiredCHF 3’000.- if cancellation insurance is not requiredIf you receive the Provisional Acceptance 6 weeks or less prior to thecommencement date, full fees should be transferred immediately. Ifthe deposit is not paid on time, the course place will no longer beguaranteed.STEP 3: ConFIrmATIonThe confirmation will be sent as soon as we have received the depositpayment. This document is needed to apply for the student Visa.Important: The balance of your school fees must reach the School’saccounts no later than 6 weeks before arrival. HIM is usually fullybooked and does not guarantee the course place any longer if thepayments are not received on time. Single, deluxe, superior deluxerooms are confirmed only once full fees have been received.STEP 4: VISA APPlICATIonFor many countries outside Europe, it is necessary for the student tomake an application for an entry visa to Switzerland. This proceduremay take up to 12 weeks. Please check with the local SwissEmbassy.


ConditionsPAymEnTSPayments can be made by bank draft, payable in Swiss Francs to HIM,Hotel Institute Montreux or by telegraphic transfer to: Banque CantonaleVaudoise, Case Postale 270, 1001 Lausanne, Switzerland. Account No: C5008.84.67, IBAN Code: CH76 0076 7000 C500 8846 7, Swift: BCVLCH2L.CurrEnCyPrices are given in Swiss Francs and payment should be made in thiscurrency. Bank charges are not covered by HIM.CAnCEllATIonSCancellations will be accepted only up to 8 weeks prior to the start ofthe course by registered mail. Students may make one transfer of theirdeposit or fees paid to another commencement date provided that aminimum of 8 weeks notice is given by registered mail. No refunds shallbe given if students choose to cancel their enrollments afterwards.For cancellations less than 8 weeks before course commencement,no refund will be made under any circumstances. We recommend thatyou take out our insurance to cover cancellation or early terminationdue to medical reasons or accident (max. coverage: CHF 10’000.-). Thecurrent cost of this insurance is CHF 300.- per term and must be paid atthe same time as your deposit. If a student’s visa is refused by the SwissImmigration, HIM will refund the full amount received in CHF but deductan administrative charge of CHF 250.-. Refunds will be made 6 weeksafter the commencement date concerned. The deposit is not refunded inany case (only if visa is refused).AH&lAStudents doing the 2 1/2 year program have the option to take up theAH&LA Diploma for an additional cost of CHF 600.-.SwISS DEgrEEThe Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree is awardedby Northwood University which is accredited by the Higher LearningCommission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools,one of the regional accrediting agencies for higher education in theUnited States recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. HIM alsoawards its own separate degree confirming the successful completionof Northwood University’s BBA program at its campus in Switzerland,and this degree is formal recognition by HIM of the standards achievedby BBA graduates.FEESFees are reviewed yearly but can be subject to change at any time.EnglISH FounDATIon ProgrAmThe sponsored fees for the English foundation program applies only forstudents who apply for a 1 to 4 year program at HIM and only if fees forthe foundation program are paid together with the fees for the 1st yearof study. No refund will be given should a student change her/his mindand not continue with the main program. Should a student not reach therequired level at entry date, she/he will continue the English program atthe sponsored price. (Usual price: CHF 930.-, SEG sponsoring CHF 500.-per week = CHF 430. - per week charged to students.)HolIDAySEach term includes 2 or 3 weeks holiday normally at the end of term orduring Christmas. HIM is not responsible for providing accommodationoutside in-school term time (18 weeks).ExPulSIonHIM reserves the right to expel any student for constant violation of rulesand regulations or for drug use or vandalism. There is no refund of fees incase of expulsion.ACTIVITIESHIM will not be held responsible for any extracurricular activitiesundertaken by students out of school-hours.APPlICAblE lAwThe legal relationships between HIM and the student are governed bySwiss substantive law, to the exclusion of conflict of laws provisionsthereof.JurISDICTIonAny dispute between HIM and the student will be subject to the exclusivejurisdiction of the courts of Lausanne, Switzerland.oTHEr PoInTSHIM reserves the right to alter dates, fees, curriculum or class hourswithout prior notice.
