The children enter their names in theBook of Enrolment at the altaras an appropriate hymn or psalm is sungINTERCESSIONSPresider: As our candidates have now been called to complete theirChristian Initiation we pray for them and their parents that theywill grow strong in faith.Rite of EnrolmentWe pray for their parents that they may be living examples of theGospel. LORD HEAR USWe pray for their teachers and catechists that they may always conveythe beauty of God’s word to those who search for it.LORD HEAR USWe pray for their families that they may help them to follow thepromptings of the Spirit. LORD HEAR USWe pray for this parish community that we may grow in charityand be constant in prayer. LORD HEAR USWe pray for these children that they may grow daily in faith andlove. LORD HEAR USPRESIDER: Lord God, bless these chosen children and help them togrow in faith and love as they journey towards the table of theLord.Although you cannot yet participate fully in the eucharist, stay withus as a sign of our hope that all God’s children will eat and drinkwith the Lord in the fullness of his Spirit.Liturgical Rites on the way to the completionof Christian initiation

Presider: We are gathered here today to affirm God’schoice of our candidates for Confirmation and firstHoly Communion. So let us listen as our catechist callseach family by name.Families stand as they are namedPresider: Parents, you have asked to have your childprepared for the sacrament of Confirmation and firstHoly Communion. In so doing your are acceptingonce more the responsibility of helping them to growin the practice and understanding of the faith, in thelove of God and one another as Jesus taught us. Doyou understand what you are undertaking?Parents: I doPresider: As first and best teachers in the ways of faithI ask you to bear witness before this assembly to yourchildren’s growth in faith and readiness for thereception of these sacraments.Are they being prepared to faithfully listen to God’sword proclaimed by the Church?Parents: They areAre they beginning to respond to God’s word and towalk daily in God’s presenceParents: They areAre they sharing in the company of their Christianbrothers and sisters and joining with them in prayer?Parents: They areINVITATION and ENROLEMENT of NAMESPresider: And now my dear candidates, I address you.Your parents have spoken in your favour, and I nowcall you to celebrate the sacraments of Confirmationand first Holy Communion when your preparation iscomplete.Since you have heard the call of Christ we ask you toexpress your own response to his call in the presence ofthe Church.Therefore I ask you, do you wish to enter more fullyinto the life of the Church through the sacraments ofconfirmation and eucharist?Candidates: We doPresider: Then come forward to offer your names forenrolment.
