BOTZ-BRUSH-ON GLAZES 1050°C BOTZ-BRUSH-ON GLAZES/ENGOBES 1050°CBOTZ-BRUSH-ON GLAZES 1050°COverglazing ofsmoothly firedearthenwareceramics935294489486934396029589Many of our BOTZ brush-on glazescan easily be fired to economicallypurchased earthenware ceramics in thefiring range of 1050°C. CAUTION:high fired chinaware is less suitable asthe glazes do not adhere well to it andcrackles more strongly.Inexpensive, low fired earthenwareplates and bowls from the furnituretrade are particularly appropriate. Alsoobjects already glazed with BOTZ ortiles purchased from the DIY marketare well-suited for redesigning withBOTZ. Here, the 1050°C glazes melttogether with the glaze of the sametemperature range already fired.A variety of application techniquescan be used:Brush techniques, masking and spraying, speckling using a spray gun ortooth brush, spring tension techniqueand marbling (particularly suitable forhorizontal surfaces such as plates andtiles) and also sgraffito technique.Using a banding wheel, you can produceinteresting evenly rounded decors,in particular on plates or tiles.TIP: Brushing different-coloured glazesinto each other: Apply one colour asevenly as possible to the ceramics ona banding wheel covering the wholesurface. Then, one or more othercolours are brushed wet in wet into itby smearing by lowering the brushwith the other glaze slowly onto thequickly rotating ceramic and thus carefullybrushing in the other colour.Spring tension technique1. Various glazes are brushed evenlyside by side or combined in part.2. Using a stick or a needle, dependingon the requested line thickness, theglazes are amalgamated immediatelyafterwards whilst they are still liquid,e.g. parallel lines alternating inopposite directions or unfolding orcollapsing in a star-shape for rounddecors. After each draw, you can wipethe stick, clean or dip it into a differentglaze before applying it again.TIP: Marks can be set, e.g., by regularlyor irregularly spreading irregularlydrawn dots, forming a star shape. The marbling technique1. Different colours are dripped irregularlyside by side or into each other,e.g. with a brush. For this purpose, the glazes must be diluted with waterso that they can spread better and notform thick layers. Excessively thicklayers can lead to thick edges duringfiring.2. Now, the plate, e.g., is swivelledinto different directions or carefullyshaken until the colours run into eachother more or less strong in marblepatterns.TIP: For a clean boundary, let the marbledinterior part dry, correct the contourand rim the edge in one colour asdesired.BOTZ-1050°C glazeson inexpensivebiscuit ceramics9609954193759592Typical red flower pots purchased at a low price can be refined easilywith BOTZ brush-on glazes at reasonable prices. Baked animalfigures, e.g. from the DIY store, can also be redesigned in this way.Simply apply BOTZ Glasur in two thick layers with the brush an letdry well before firing! CAUTION: please check whether the piecesreally are stable at 1050°C.If you apply the spring tension method or marbling technique tobiscuit firing objects, please soak the objects sufficiently prior toapplying the glaze so that the biscuit ware no longer draws in theglaze. Leave everything to dry well prior to firing.Intense watering of the biscuit ware also makes it possible for youto use the spring tension and the marbling technique with BOTZbrush-on engobes. To do so, the engobes are diluted with water toprevent them from forming thick layers. Here, the following applies too: let the engobe dry slowly and letthe object to dry thoroughly prior to firing.TIPP: Always dilute only the required quantity of the engobe orglaze in a another vessel andlabel the latter.94869101 + 9589
