Heavy-duty, quick-foldingeconomical and efficientYour farm is different from the next guy’s, and so are your needs. That’s why the Hesston 4000 Series wheel rakes are availablein 8, 10 and 12 wheel configurations. They’re as rugged as thetough 4300 Series, with models featuring 55” diameter rake wheelson tapered roller bearings, and 40 teeth per wheel (each toothmeasures seven millimeters in diameter for maximum resistance tobreakage and wear). However, the wheels are mounted in pairs on pivoting bracketsrather than individual arms. Both wings fold upward instead offorward for easy transport (with very little effort on the operator’spart). Choose raking widths up to 20 feet, 22 feet or 24 feet. Useboth sides or lock the left-hand linkage for single-side raking only.

4000 Series Wheel RakesRaking Width and Windrow AdjustmentThe spring that the rake arm rests on is adjustable, so the operatorcan set the amount of down pressure on the rake wheels.Rake Arm Float AdjustmentThe raking width can be easily set to one of three positions. The width can be fine tuned by lengthening or shortening theturnbuckle located on each wing.Rake arm float adjustmentRaking width and windrow adjustment5

The Most Popular Modelson the Planet.Think of them as the superstars of wheel rakes. The 4300 Series offersmore models, more features and more productivity than ever before.Nine models with manual and hydraulic-fold configurations orstandard and high-capacity models in certain widths plus three 4400Series Y + V models.Every model is different, yet each is the same … at least when it comesto the heavy-duty frame constructed of rugged, box-beam steel andfully castering gauge wheels on the outboard ends of each rake beam, for clean raking on all types of terrain.High-Capacity 12, 14 and 18 Wheel ModelsSometimes, a quick description is worth a thousand words. Like using“high-capacity” to describe Models 4324, 4344 and 4384. Withtheir inboard rake wheels, 46 inches of rear beam clearance, and astandard-equipment, walking-beam axle (optional on Model 4324),these rakes are definitely high-capacity leaders.High volume hay flows continuously because rake wheels are mountedon the inboard side of the folding frame. And there’s nothing to keepthe windrow from making a clean exit either, thanks to the overheadframe at the rear.Match your model to the maximum raking width you need: 24.6 feet onModel 4324, 27.3 feet on Model 4344, and for the ultimate capacity,34 feet on Model 4384, with windrow widths up to 61 inches.(There’s even an optional kit to convert the 14-wheel Model 4344 to a16-wheel rake as your operations grows.)

4300/4400 Series Wheel RakesStandard Hydraulic-Fold 8, 12 and 16 Wheel ModelsThe term “standard” is all in the mind of the beholder. So, behold the Models4318, 4322, and 4332. Standard is elevated to a whole new level.First of all, there’s the convenience factor. While most rakes offer only threeor four settings, hydraulic-fold models give you multiple options between theminimum and maximum settings on each model. Just turn the ratchet-typeturnbuckle. Spread it out to fit the throat of a round baler or build a high, narrowwindrow that dries quickly, yet fills the pickup on a big rectangular baler.Pick your capacity, then pick your product. The 8-wheeled Model 4318 letsyou preset raking widths to three different spans, ranging from 12.5 to 17 feet. The 12-wheeled Model 4322 lets you pick six different widths from 18 to 24feet. And for more capacity, the 16-wheeled Model 4332 has raking widthsthat range from 24.5 to 31.5 feet. Folding for transport is easy too (9.5 feet forModel 4332, narrower on Models 4318 and 4322). And you never need toleave your tractor seat.7

Series 4400 Y + V Rakessimple as A-B-C.The right configuration for your situationAre you raking windrows together? Go with the standard V-rakeconfiguration. But if you’ve got tedded hay, switch to the Y-rakeformation. Hesston Series 4400 Y + V rakes give you the option thatbest suits the conditions in your fields. The rake wheels on the right side frame can be moved to give youthree different rake configurations. A) The Y-rake set-up for swathedor tedded hay (with no need for a center kicker wheel); B) The normalV-rake set-up; and C) The maximum windrow V-rake formation. In allcases, the rake wheels on the left side frame always stay in the sameposition. And conversion is quick and easy.

4400 Series Y + V Wheel RakesY-Rake configuration allows raking of swathedor tedded hay, without the need for the centerkicker wheel.V-rake configuration is used to rake windrows togetherHeavy-duty rake frameRake wheelsSolid Frame, No Obstacles. The heavy-duty rake frame provides for high capacity raking with ahigh tongue and large center opening, eliminating any obstruction tofree crop movement.Sharp Teeth, Clean Rake.54” diameter rake wheels feature 40 rake teeth per wheel … eachone made of 6.5 mm spring steel. So the wheels rotate easier, and doa cleaner job of raking. Also, the large diameter rake wheel keeps thecrop moving, meaning less crop windmilling around the wheel. All ofwhich puts more hay in the windrow, leaving less in the field.9

Tough, TenaciousGround Huggers.Clean fields. That’s what it’s all about. And these rakes deliver. The 4000 Series wheel rakes offer independentrake wheel flotation as well as dual-mounted rake wheels flotation. All wheels are on the ground at the same time picking up hay others leavebehind. And all models, including the 4300/4400 Series have teeth . . .lots of teeth . . . strong seven millimeters in diameter teeth. Forty per wheelputs more teeth to ground at one time. Plus, the large wheel diameter –55 inches – helps keep hay from windmilling around the rake wheel.Every 4300/4400 Series model also features a pair of outboard swivelgauge wheels that stabilize the rake on rough ground for level, smooth, dependable, cleaner raking. Plus, the single-acting hydraulic cylinder liftseach side of the rake in unison for easy transport and maintenance.Adjustable HitchHookup is easy with an adjustable drawbar clevis on all models. Regardlessof the tractor drawbar height, it lets you level the rake wheel beams forclean, consistent raking.

4000 Series Wheel Rake FeaturesOptional Kicker WheelNo more worries about missing the center swath in unrakedhay or tedded fields. With the optional center kicker wheel,it’s picked up and placed in the windrow with the rest of thecrop. It also allows the bottom of the windrow to dry quickerso you can bale sooner (center kicker wheel not available onModel 4308).Adjustable hitchOptional kicker wheel11 11

Dewed. meet the heavyweightchamp of the damp.

Built tough for tough cropsEverything about Model 4530 says,“Bring it on.” Heavy crop, damp crop,will-this-rain-ever-quit crop. The heavydutyframe, rake beams and rakewheels make this the ideal rake tohandle the problem.Easy to operateThe Model 4530 heavy-duty wheel rakemight look intimidating, but it respondsto your needs at the touch of a button. The rake hitch is easily adjustable upor down (to ten positions) to match thevarious heights of tractor drawbars, andto keep the rake level. The rake mainframe carries two rakebeams and can be hydraulicallywidened or narrowed to change rakingwindrow width. The rake beam angle can be adjustedfrom normal (no angle … for normalfield conditions with dry and fluffy hay),to a variable angle up to 10 degrees(for heavy green hay, rained on hay,or hay matted into the stubble).Heavy-duty mainframeRaking width adjustmentModel 4530 Heavy-Duty Wheel RakeEasy width adjustmentOpen or close the center frame andangle the rake wheel beams to adjustthe raking width. Each side of thecenter frame can be moved out or inindependently at the flip of a switch. The windrow width is also adjustedusing a combination of opening orclosing the center frame, and anglingthe rake wheel beams.Hydraulic rake wheel lift13 13

ThoroughBut Gentle.Sometimes, “easy does it” is the best way to rake. Especially when itcomes to valuable crops like alfalfa. Fortunately, the Model 4240 fits thebill perfectly. The rake itself is built on a heavy-duty frame (constructed ofsquare steel tubing with welded joints) with cam-operated tine action thatworks well in all types of hay. But, it’s the gentle raking action that not onlypreserves valuable leaves, but forms uniform, well-aired windrows that drydown quickly and uniformly.A total of 48 double tines on 12 toothbars sweep the ground clean as yougather in up to 14.75 feet of crop. Each of the toothbars can be quicklyattached or detached. Tine height and leveling is handled by adjustmentcranks, and an adjustable windrow release cam varies the windrow width.Rotation of the cam changes the point at which the rake teeth release thecrop, letting you select the best possible windrow for crop conditions. The deflector curtain can be adjusted to three different positions, each11 inches apart for additional control of windrow or swath width. Standardtandem axles provide extra flotation over rough and uneven fields. And astandard hydraulic frame lift lets you go from field to road height quickly.

A clean sweepeven when it’s damp.Even those two well-known enemies of hay – highhumidity and damp fields – don’t stand a chanceagainst the 4200 Series tedders. Because Hesstontedders are designed to lift and spread the cropfor fast drydown while minimizing leaf shatterand maintaining hay quality. Two sizes fit the needs of both large and smalloperations. The Model 4210 uses two rotors on adurable pull-type or mounted frame with a 10-foottedding width. The Model 4227 uses four rotorsto lift and spread hay over a 17-foot workingwidth. Extra wide ribbed flotation tires followevery contour of the field, and the rotary action ofrugged double tines on each six-arm rotor ensuresa Hesston tedder will sweep the field clean, andevenly spread crop material for uniform curing.

4200 Series TeddersDriveline protection – Standard equipment on all tedder models,an integral torque limiter clutch protects against driveline and drivecomponent damage.Quick, simple adjustment – Match fluffing action to dryingconditions in a matter of minutes with a single crank rotorangle adjustment.Narrow transport – Fold the 4227 to a transport width of8’ 2” with spring-fold cylinders or optional hydraulic cylinders. The 4210 transforms to less than 6½ feet.17 17
