The systemThe Flex 7 interconnection system combinestotal design flexibility with simpleplug-together installation to produce an efficientand cost-effective modular solution.Connecting Flex 7 interconnection units withinterconnection extender leads creates acomplete, flexible, plug-together, connectionunit based system. Using our twin extendersystem or modular chains provides an alternative‘piggy-back’ installation approach.Whichever solution you select, or whetheryou choose to mix them, everything just plugstogether. If pre-wired hub units are selectedfor initial connection, they only requiretermination at the distribution board. Thesystem can also be connected to the fixedwiring via single outlets for conduit or trunkingbox mounting or by using a first-in-lineconnection unit.By factory producing, fully testing anddelivering individually tailored systems, Flex 7interconnection eliminates the uncertainty ofon-site interpretation. Wastage and re-workingare minimised, whilst layout alterations arequickly and easily accommodated thanks tothe system’s flexibility. The compact and lightweight componentsare clearly and comprehensively labelled, making on-site installation simple and fast. Some Flex 7 interconnection products aremanufactured to special order, so pleasecontact us to discuss your requirements.Key features of the flex 7interconnection system• Simple plug-together installation.• Plug-in control devices.• Rated at 16A.• Interconnection and connection up toseven poles.• Substantial savings in installation time.• Flexible products that can be adaptedfor individual projects.• Special product design andmanufacturing service.• A projects quotation service.• A company that works with you tomeet your requirements and exceedyour expectations.Interconnection systemT h e s y s t e mPanel mountplugs and socketsSingle extender leadsTwin extender lead7 pole single socketsHub unitFirst-in-line unitMulti circuitinterconnection unitFlexibleinterconnection unit1

flex 7 hub unitsHub units and single socket outletsThe 6-outlet hub unit is the most effective toolfor initiating a Flex 7 interconnection system, with up to six circuits plugging-in for connection tothe distribution board. Each hub outlet has seven poles, allowing centralswitching and emergency test configurations, aswell as the integration of control or signal cables. The completely separate terminations for eachoutlet permit connection back to more than onephase at the distribution board. A large capacityearth terminal bar gives a choice of earthingarrangements.Whilst hubs can be supplied unwired, ordering themwired with a SWA home-run tail (to your specifiedsize and length) allows us to undertake full factorytesting for you. Both hubs and tails have clearcircuit identification labelling – all that is neededon site is connection to the distribution board.Ordering flex 7 hub unitsfhu066 outlet hub unit, no cableFor pre-wired hubs, please contact us to discuss your requirements.flex 7 single socket outletsThe 16 amp rating enables theFlex 7 socket to cope safelywith the inrush current whenlights are first switched on,making it particularly suitablefor the initial connection to anyinterconnection circuit.Large capacity terminalsand substantial wiring space, combined with a simple-toremovecover, make the socketquick and convenient to install, particularly where space is at apremium. Removing the covergives access for inspectionwithout disturbing the wiring. The socket has 50.8mmfixing centres for conduit boxmounting and the Flex 7 trunking mount plateprovides a simple way to mount single outlets totrunking, cable basket or tray. flex 7 extender rangeFlexibility, adaptability and ease of installation– all the benefits associated with Flex 7 lightingconnection are an integral part of the new Flex 7extender range.Consisting of single and twin extender leads andpanel mount plugs and sockets, all items feature theunique Flex 7 interface and are 16 amp rated.Designed – like every Flex 7 product – specificallyfor industrial and commercial use, the Extender rangeplugs together quickly and easily. Fewer connectionsand less hard wiring reduces the likelihood oferrors, saving time – and therefore cost – on theinstallation.M o d u l a r c h a i n sflex 7 single extender leadsPlugging a Flex 7 single extender into a lightfitting means there is no need to hard wireterminations to luminaires. The result is increasedflexibility of installation and reduced time and coston site.Luminaire manufacturers and electrical contractorsno longer have to wire a lead to a luminaire beforeinstallation – with the risk that the lead may be toolong or, more problematically, too short – becausethe correct length is selected and fitted after theluminaire is in place. The luminaire manufacturer simply installs a flushmounting, panel mount plug into the fitting (seepage 8). This also minimises packaging and storage,as the plug and lead no longer need to be included.Where an installation requires even greater flexibilityof luminaire siting, a short plug and lead can still befitted to the luminaire.Ordering flex 7 single extender leads 3 3-core4 4-core5 5-core6 6-core7 7-corewrbWhiteRedBlack100 1.00mm 2150 1.50mm 2fs lsf / 2 2 metre3 3 metre5 5 metreFor interconnection systems, special Flex 7 extenderleads pre-wired with 1.50mm 2 conductors makethe connections between interconnection units(see page 4 for selection and ordering criteria). The Flex 7 single extender is available in a choiceof: white, red or black; pre-wired with 1.00mm 2and 1.50mm 2 ls0h flexible cable; 3-core to 7-core;and in 2m, 3m and 5m lengths. flex 7 twin extender leadsThe Extender range provides additional lightingconnection solutions through the use of atwin-outlet extender. With all the advantages of thesingle outlet, the twin version has a second outletavailable to continue the circuit to the next fitting, using a second lead. This solution is particularlyuseful where luminaires are sited in rows, suchas in corridors or open plan offices, or where thespecification requires the luminaire to be sited nextto its connecting socket.Where other products have a separate T-connector– doubling plug and socket connections andtherefore potential faults – the Flex 7 twinextender benefits from an integral perpendicularsecond socket. Metal clips (part no. fb009) forsecuring the linked sockets to the building fabricare also available.T w i n e x t e n d e r l e a d sA further option is available with the Flex 7 twinflexible extender.
